Enterprise

At school, from nursery to P7, we use a variety of enterprising skills to encourage our pupils to have a ‘Can Do’ attitude.  In all areas of the curriculum, we develop these skills so that our pupils can meet the outcomes of a Curriculum for Excellence: to be successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective contributors. Some of these enterprising skills involve the children in making decisions about their own learning; being creative; showing determination, resilience and self-awareness; working with others; taking responsibility and being independent; and developing a positive attitude.  Use the links on the right to read about some of the activities that are going on in our school to develop these valuable skills.

Any parents who feel that they have enterprising skills that we could use in school would be more than welcome to get in touch to discuss ways in which you can share your skills with the pupils.  This could be giving a talk to the pupils about your skills; helping to interview pupils when they ‘apply’ for jobs such as Pupil Council or Green Group reps; or perhaps you could share your skills by working in the classroom with a group of pupils.  Contact Miss Harkness or Ms Macartney to make an appointment to discuss how your skills could be used.

Our P7 pupils attended a cluster enterprise event in February at the Brunton Theatre.  It provided the children with the valuable opportunity to meet with other pupils who will be attending Ross High after the summer.  The children were involved in a variety of activities where they had to use their enterprising skills to create a card, a gift tag, a postcard, a table decoration and a gift box and make a profit!  We are delighted to annouce that Shelby and Zoe were winners of this challenge - well done girls!
