Windygoul Primary School May Fair

On Saturday 30th May, we held our first ever fair.  The fundraising group did a fantastic job of organising this event and a huge thank you goes to Alison, Keith, Dawn, Christine, Jackie, Maureen and Derek for all their hard work.  Everyone had a great time, with the sun helping to bring out a huge crowd of visitors to our school.  The various stalls, games and attractions helped to raise over £2000 for the school - what a fantastic achievement!!    The photos below show just how great a time everyone had.  Thank you again to everyone who helped make this such a successful event.

Open Day

Thank you to the many family and friends who attended our Open Day today - we had around 150 visitors!  The children were very excited at the prospect of showing everyone what they get up to in their classrooms and had spent time planning their activities with their teachers.  You will see from the photos below that there were lots of different things going on and many of our visitors got involved in making things and playing games.

Pyjama Party!

Any visitor to our school on Friday 6th March would have thought our staff and pupils had come to school straight from their beds! I have never seen so many pairs of pyjamas, dressing gowns and fancy slippers! Well done to everyone who came dressed for our Bedtime Reading event - we had a great time sharing our favourite books with each other. We’ve also had lots of comments left on our website recommending books for all different ages - please keep adding your comments throughout the year.

Recommend a book

Thursday 5th of March is World Book Day. There will be a variety of activities taking place in each class to encourage everyone to read.  We will also be having a Bedtime Reading event in school on Friday 6th March, when staff and pupils will come to school in their pyjamas and bring their favourite books to read extracts from.

Use the ‘Recommend a book’ link on the left of this page to leave a comment about your favourite book to help encourage each other to read.

Our P7 pupils are off to camp this week at Dukeshouse Wood, Northumberland.  This is a new location and the children are all very excited!  They will take part in lots of outdoor activities such as climbing, abseiling and archery.  We hope the weather is kind to them and that everyone has a great time.  Mr Thomas and some of the pupils will post information on our website to let us know how they are getting on.
