Haunted Heritage Roadshow

Friday 16th November 2007 saw the arrival of the Haunted Heritage Roadshow at Whitecraig Primary School. Pupils from the P4/5 and P6/7 classes attended these sessions run by Historic Scotland.

Please read the following personal accounts from two of our pupils about the event:-

“On Friday 16th November Historic Scotland came into school and performed A Haunted Roadshow about old castles and monuments. They pretended that Shona, one of the actors, was a news reporter called Kirsty Watt and Alan, another actor, was pretending to be ghosts interrupting the transmission.

After a break, P4/5 and P6/7 dressed us as old folk - doctors, cowboys and policemen. They took us up and we asked questions and they had to answer them. We did this because they were pretending that Dirleton Castle was being knocked down and turned into a shopping centre” by Alexander

” On Friday 16th November Historic Scotlands’ Shayne from Austrailia (really Alan from Glasgow) and Kirsty Watt (Shona) presented the HAUNTED ROADSHOW.  Kirsty was pretending to be a newsreader, talking to Bob through the TV and the ghosts were intercepting it. They then came out of the TV to haunt the studio. Ghostly persons like Mary of 4 Mary’s and Joe the Strummer, came and talked about places like Edinburgh Castle.

We had our break and when we went back, we found that the studio had turned into a debate area. We were debating whether Dirleton Castle should be knocked down or not. I was on the side wanting to keep the castle and my brother was on the side wanting to knock it down. My friend Alex, was on the jury. My side won the debate” by Craig
