Dress as your Favourite Character Day
As you will see from other P3/4 class pages, the pupils of P3/4 have recently been discussing the benefits and importance of reading for enjoyment.
The children from this class held a Dress as Your Favourite Character from a Book Day today (9th November 2007) to raise funds to purchase new books for the school library. Children and staff dressed as their favourite character and made a donation to this worthwhile cause. We had Superman, Jack Sparrow, Charlotte from Charlottes Web, Horrid Henry, Cruella De Vil, Little Red Riding Hood, Dora the Explorer to name just a few, in our school today!
The entrants from each of the 4 classes were judged by Mrs Simpson and Mrs McAvoy, and each winner chose a book from the Travelling Book Fair, which is currently in school, as their prize. The winning characters were Charlotte and Wilbur from Charlottes Web, Tom Sawyer from Tom Sawyer, Cruella De Vil from 101 Dalmatians and Doctor Who from Doctor Who.
Some of the P4 pupils counted the donations and were pleased to tell everybody that a total of £22.50 was raised. These P4 pupils also then got to choose and purchase books for the school library from the Travelling Book Fair.
