Whitecraig Primary School

P1/2 have been taking advantage of the recent better weather and have enjoyed their break times outside on the school field.
They have enjoyed playing with the new parachute, playing football, hunting for bugs, playing hide and seek, running and just chatting with friends!

The children from P1/2 have been looking at People Who Help Us for their topic work. This week they have made a fabulous display of their pictures on People Who Help Us.

P1/2 pupils have been collecting information to see what colour of eye was the most popular in their class.
They took this information and made a bar chart with it and they also used pictograph to make graphs from the information. They worked out that most people had blue eyes and that only 4 people had [...]

The pupils from P1 - P7 all took part in World Maths Day on 5th March 2008.
During the day the children took part in maths activities/challenges against children from all around the world. These included children from Austrailia, Malaysia, China and United Arab Emirates to name a few.

Some of the children from P1/2 have been working with Rosie from East Lothian Roots & Fruits in the school garden.
The children worked in groups and spent some time clearing the weeds and last years dead plants from their garden bed. They then enjoyed their time raking the soil and preparing the bed ready for planting vegetables later this [...]

The children from Whitecraig Primary School will be taking part in World Maths Day on 5th March 2008.

Rosie at East Lothian Roots & Fruits recently visited each of the classes in the school.
When she was with the P1/2 class, Rosie split open a vanilla pod and let the children smell the wonderful aroma from the seeds! She also grated a nutmeg to allow the children to smell the nutty, warm sweet smell from it.

P1/2 held their first Fun Maths Games Afternoon on 21st February 2008 and the whole class had a really fantastic time playing the maths games.
Every child had the opportunity to work with a parent/carer and a partner and the games were all fun!
