Whitecraig Primary School

The Nursery children have been continuing with their theme of Minbeasts this week.
They have also, like the P1/2 children, made the most of the good weather and have spent a lot of their time outside. They have “painted” the outside walls of the Nursery with water, they have played with the sand, been climbing, playing with [...]

The Nursery pupils are currently learning about Minibeasts and this theme will probably continue for a few weeks.
The children have been sorting according to wings/no wings, looking at them via magnifying lenses and collection pots, playing ‘Ladybird Dominos’ and  becoming familiar with some of the types of minibeasts they might find. They are also learning to respect [...]

The Nursery children have been learning about ‘baby aniimals’.
They have enjoyed playing with domestic and wild animals and matching the mothers and babies. The children also made animal biscuits which were very tasty!
They had a visit from Jane Gray (a parent of the school) with her new baby and the children really enjoyed asking lots [...]

For the last two weeks the Nursery pupils have had fun with pirates!
The children have enjoyed playing with and dressing up as Pirates, making maps, flags, galleons, walking the plank, crossing the rope bridge and going on a Treasure Hunt!
They ended the theme with a ‘Dress as a Pirate Day’ and a ‘Pirate Party’. There were [...]

The children from the Nursery Class have been very busy this week (commencing 18th February 2008) looking at Birds and Caring for Wildlife.
All of the children have made bird cake and pine cone feeders which are now out in the Nursery Garden for the birds to feed on.

To recognise Burns Day, the children from Whitecraig Nursery enjoyed a Burns Supper on Thursday 24th January.

The children at Whitecraig Nursery Class have started 2008 by learning about “Cold Climates”.
They have been learning about life in the Arctic and Antartic i.e. Polar Bears, Penguins, Innuits etc. They are also learning about changes of state i.e. water -> ice ->water->steam and also how people and animals stay warm.

[ October 31, 2007; 9:15 am to 10:15 am. ] The pupils, teachers and parents from the Nursery Class are taking part in a Witches and Warlocks Sponsored Walk on 31st October.  The children will be in their favourite Halloween Fancy Dress costume and the walk is in aid of Send a Cow/Livestock for Life and Whitecraig Nursery Class.
