The Village of Whitecraig by P3/4
Whilst working on their project about the Village of Whitecraig, the children in P3/4 decided that people from outwith Whitecraig don’t really know anything about it. Mrs Gilbert informed the children that they were going to be given the opportunity to change this at a showcase event which was to be held at Musselburgh Grammar School.
The children were keen for the challenge and discussed in groups how they could share information about the village. Various ideas were suggested including writing reports, taking photographs and recording their own video.
In groups, the children decided which area of the village they would like to concentrate on. They then agreed who would be responsible for the various roles and set off to write reports, take photographs and produced a video programme. The children worked very hard in their roles and supported each other whenever necessary. The finished products are excellent and Mrs Gilbert is very proud of all the children.
Brandon and Matthew attended the showcase event where the reports, photographs and video were on display. The boys spoke confidently and enthusiastically to everyone who asked them questions about the project and Mrs Gilbert has no doubts that people now know about the village of Whitecraig.
We all hope that you enjoy watching our short programme and that you also learn something new about the fantastic village of Whitecraig.

What a great programme! Congratulations to everyone in P3/4 who helped make it. I help other teachers around East Lothian to get started with web sites like this, and will be showing them this to show what P3/4 children can do. I hope that’s all right with you! ![]()

Hi there P3/4.
I saw this video clip with David’s help.
You have done a great job telling people about Whitecraig. I could hear every word, except when the cars drove past.
I am very impressed that you held the camcorder so steadily. When I make a movie I often wobble the camera so much I feel sick when I look at the film! What’s your secret?
