Lady Bugs

I saw a little lady bug flying in the air,
But when I tried to catch her, five bugs were there.

Five little lady bugs, flying in the air, they bashed into a rock and landed on a bear.

Six little lady bugs, flew into a tree, half of them got caught, then there were three.

Three little lady bugs, climbed up a wall, one fell down, on a ball.

Two little lady bugs, jumping up and down, they landed on a flower and made their way down

Two spotty lady bugs, they climbed back up, a bird swept down and ate them up!

We were so pleased this week to open our Nursery in the afternoons.  The children have settled in well and are already very busy!

On Wednesday staff were  looking at a Curriculum for Excellence and changes to assessment.  It was great to join up with Wallyford Primary School, as you can see from the photos, everyone worked very hard!

The nursery outdoor area has been transformed during the summer holiday and we now have a fantastic climbing frame, outdoor classroom, planters/seating and picnic table. We will also be getting a new sand pit in the next few weeks. During the October holiday, East Lothian Council will resurface all the broken concrete so Whitecraig will have an outdoor area they can be really proud of!

The children think the new equipment is “fabulous!”

While learning all about time, P5/6/7 maths set were given the task to create an accurate 1 minute timer.

They were given a plentiful supply of water and a polystyrene cup.  It didn’t take them long to come up with and try out their theories.  The best timer had a time of 1 minute 1 second.
