Dear Parents,

P1/2 News and homework!

This term’s Living Things topic continues to be of great interest. Our outing with the Countryside Ranger was very enjoyable and successful. (Thank you to the parents who accompanied us on our trip and to the weather for being kind to us!)

We are currently looking after tadpoles; germinating and growing bean plants in the classroom and have also enjoyed watching some of the lily plants that have returned to school burst into flower. The classroom is very full and colourful at the moment!

Homework

To conclude our topic please help your child to find out about an animal or plant that lives in or around their garden, park or the local countryside so that they can give a short talk about it next week.

We talked about providing the following information:

·        What is it called?

·        What does it look like?

·        Where does it live?

·        What does it need to survive?

·        Why did you choose your plant or animal?

Pupils could bring a photograph or drawing to illustrate their talk.

Meanwhile P1 and P2 pupils continue to learn and use new blends and common words in their reading and writing. As before, new blends and words are added to letter bags. Please continue to use them for reading and writing games at home.

Please remember that you are welcome to come and have a look around the classroom any time.
