Xmas recipes November 28, 2008

Hi folks,

First of all, I must apologise for not getting round to posting the homework this week.  We have been awfully busy; I didn’t realise that Christmas started so early in primary schools!  On this theme, we have been looking at instructions for the past week.  In preparation for a lesson on Tuesday, I have asked the class to bring in a copy of their favourite Christmas recipe.  We will be analysing the instructions, and then, if we are feeling really brave, we will be trying out our favourite.

Best Wishes,

Mr Johnston

This week in writing we have been writing poems we have written shape poems and rhyming  poems. We did a shape poem on a elephant called Ellie. In maths we are doing angles and measuring angles. We have been learning the different types of anglesand how many degrees they are.  We are making a writing rocket where it tells us how to check our writing.  Some of my classmates have been working on a wind turbine for the Torness Challenge.

The children have each been set angles consolidation work for their maths homework, and have been given an exercise from the spelling programme for their language homework.  In addition, reading groups will be set appropriate tasks throughout the week.

Best Wishes
