We have also been studying volcanoes. We have learned about extinct, dormant and active volcanoes. How much do you know about volcanoes?
By the way Miss King has had her baby. Her name is Sylvie and she weighs 9 lb. Congratulations Miss King from all the class! By Chloe B and Jack S. ![]()

Dear Chloe and Jack,
I know lots about volcanoes because I am interested in geology. Did you know that we have several volcanoes in East Lothian? Do you know where they are? See if you can tell me next time you see me.
Love from Mrs Peterson.
I think it is super that you are doing a project on the volcanos I really wish I could be doing that in my class. I think that there hill at Edingburgh which used to be a volcano.
Please tell me how it is going

Dear Margaux,
I think you’re quite right! In fact I think there may be at least 2 hills in Edinburgh which used to be volcanoes. Try typing in Holyrood park geology and see what you can find out. There’s also some guy called Angus Miller who will take you on walks around the park and show you what to look for. I don’t know if he’s any good, mind you.
Love from Mrs Peterson.
Yes he is I can vouch for him. A proverbial good egg.
