Scot’s Assembly March 27, 2009
Posted by Scott Lavery in : Primary 4, Pupil Council , 1 comment so farThe school were visited by three International Students from Queen Margaret University on Wednesday as part of our link with the university. Primary 4 led an assembly for the students that showcased and celebrated Scottish Culture.
Primary 1 and 1/2 sang Three Crows, Primary 2 recited To A Mouse, Primary 3 read a poem called Sair Finger, Primary 4/5 recited A Red Red Rose, Primary 5 acted out The Address to a Haggis, Primary 6 showcased the First Burns Supper and Primary 7 recited Address to a Haggis. The assembly was a great success and gave our visitors a lot to ask about. After assembly, the children in Primary 4 showed their Scottish exhibition which showed them what they had learned about differnet aspects of Scottish culture.

Afterwards, our visitors commented on how welcome they felt in the school and how much they had enjoyed and learned from their visit. They also commented on the work that the children had put into the assembly and also their enthusiasm.
The children in the Pupil Council welcomed and gave the group a tour of our school. They were certainly a credit to us and made me very proud.
We hope to maintain the link we have established with the University.
Pupil Council Visit to Queen Margaret University March 11, 2009
Posted by Scott Lavery in : Pupil Council , 1 comment so farToday, our Pupil Council visited Queen Margaret University to meet a group of International Students who are studying here. The purpose of the visit was to give the children the opportunity to find out more about their countries and culture. The students came from Nigeria, Japan, Morocco and Columbia. Here are some pictures of the event.
The children were very enthusiastic about the visit and learned a great deal about the different cultures. When returning to school, the children went back to class and fed back what they had found out to the rest of their class. Those who attended were a credit to the school in the way they conducted themselves.
The students will be visiting the school on the afternoon of Wednesday 25 March where the school will be holding a Scots assembly to celebrate our culture. All parents and carers are welcome to attend at 13.30.
