Hello from all the little donkeys in p1/2 December 4, 2008
Posted by jhardie in : Primary 1/2 , 2commentsThis week we have been practising for our Nativity play. In our class we have some angels, some inn-keepers, some shepherds and some readers. We also have a Joseph, a wise man and a sheep. We have been working really hard and learning all about the nativity story with Mrs Willoughby.
In literacy, P2 have been learning about adjectives. We enjoyed cutting open some fruit and describing it as clearly as we could. Matthew says this was great fun!
P1 have been learning more new sounds. Toby says we are nearly finished all our sounds!
We have also been writing some letters. Megan’s was especially fantastic this week as she did most of it herself! Well done Megan. Mia also did a brilliant letter so Cameron suggested she should get a stamp. What a great teacher he would be!
Remember our Nativity is next Friday and we hope to see you all there! Bye for now.

Posted by iburns in : Uncategorized , 1 comment so farWe have been learning our songs for the Christmas nativity play. We are really looking forward to putting on our show next week. For StAndrews Day we painted tartan and made kilts with sporrans. We were able to show them to the school at our special St Andrews day assembly. Last week for our homework we had to make models of either a space station or of a space vehicle. Mrs Burns was amazed at how good our models were. We each took turns to show our models to the class and to talk about how we made them. Next week we will be getting ready for Christmas and Mrs Burns promises us that there will be lots of fun Christmas activities to do.
P5 Skiing December 3, 2008
Posted by mswaney in : Primary 5 , 2commentsThis week was our last week of skiing. All the P5’s who went skiing had a great time. The people working towards level 3 worked really hard to reach the 2nd red line which is near the top and also learned how to use the chairlift. The other group were working towards level 2 and learned how to do turns on the slope. We can’t wait to go again in P6.

Posted by dbeveridge in : Uncategorized , add a commentThank you to all those who were involved in making the Wallyford Playgroup and School Christmas Fayre such a great success. Thank you for donations of home baking, tombola, toys and games and for your time if you helped out by setting up or being there on the day. Wasn’t it great to see Santa in our community!
We are not sure yet how much money was raised but we will let you know soon.
I think we will have to organise another Fayre for next year!!

Primary 3 - A class to be proud of! November 28, 2008
Posted by sbetteridge in : Uncategorized , 1 comment so farHello again,
SoftStart
Thanks to all the parents who joined us today for Softstart. We were learning about magnets that attract objects and I learned something new…Nikki Smith (Lewis Smith’s mum) told Primary 3 we should never put a magnet near a laptop or a TV as this will destroy the picture! Please remind your children about this!
Drawn to Life
The class have been playing the game in class and recording what happens in each level. The children have been asked to describe their character and the different settings in Drawn to Life. We also had a discussion about the problems they face in the game and how to solve them! The children have been a credit to themselves by helping each other and organising the DS Nintendos. The atmosphere in the class is lovely and I have particularly enjoyed watching children help others they may not have done so before and the whooping that goes on when they achieve a level or solve a problem. They feel instant success! It’s great to share and a reminder of why I love teaching!
Drama
As it is St Andrew’s Day on the 30th November, the class were learning about why and how St. Andrew became the Patron Saint of Scotland. I asked the children how they would like to share their learning with the rest of the school for the whole school assembly and they chose drama! The class organised themselves into groups and speakers and have written their own script! There was lots of laughter too when they were acting!
The class…
I would like to share with everyone how much I have seen Primary 3 grow and blossom. They are becoming more confident and independent at solving any problems and challenges. They have superb ideas and answers and are happy to share them in class. Some pupils are also becoming more confident in explaining why they think something. We are also now sharing jokes and laughing with each other. The children are excellent at working with and supporting each other. In other words, I just want to say I am proud of them and proud of your child!
I hope to see you all on Saturday at the Christmas Fayre,
Mrs Betteridge
