Using the Toolbox

Welcome to the Extreme Learning Toolbox.

The Toolbox is where you’ll find tools to help you get on with learning. Here’s a reminder of how to get started:

  • Decide what your project will be about. It’s got to be something that matters to you, so choose something you want to know more about. Let’s take surfing as an example.
  • Decide what sort of things you’re wanting to find out by choosing from a range of windows onto the topic. There are about 10 windows to choose from, and you’ve to choose 4. For surfing, you might choose:
    • Expressive Arts, to study the styles of boards, clothing and accessories
    • Technology, to learn about the materials used for boards
    • World of Work and Enterprise, where you might examine what sort of businesses it can support
    • Physical World, to learn about how surfing depends on coastal geography and climate
  • Once you’ve decided these, pick two that you’ll pull together into a mashup to generate new learning. For example, a surfing project could maybe combine Arts and Technology windows to generate a mashup on surfboard design.
  • Then repeat the process to create another 2 or 3 mashups.
