On Friday the tenth of October our Pupil Council members proudly received their badges from Maureen Jobson, Acting Head of Education. Mrs Jobson congratulated the children on their achievement and wished them well in their new role.
Mrs Jobson also presented a gift to Sarah O’Neill a nursery nurse in the Communication Provision, who has retired after eighteen years at the Burgh. The staff, pupils and parents as well as Mrs Jobson would like to thank Sarah for all her hard work and commitment over the years.

On a bright sunny Thursday morning the chidren from the nursery welcomed the Honest Lad and Lass to open their newly designed garden. The children and visitors had a great time cutting the ribbon and taking part in the party to officially open the garden. The children had worked very hard producing hats to help them celebrate the occasion.
Please have a look when you are passing the garden to see the changes we have made.

Kyle, Maxine and Greig in Primary 7 have been learning how to make podcasts, write articles and how to take illustrative photographs for interviewing young golfers taking part in the US Kids’ Golf Foundation European Championship. As part of the course, they had to speak to councillor Stuart Currie. The championship was held in Gullane. When the councillor was interviewed he got asked more than he barganed for! He got asked about boosting cinema provision. He told his interviewers that more use could be made of the Brunton Hall. He also said that there are usally three or four showings a month or movies that are on. He added There seems to be alot of people in Musselburgh who are going to Ocean Terminal to see movies.

On Wednesday 28th May 2008 P6 and 7 took part in an athletics competition at Meadowbank. We took part in the cricket ball throw, long jump, high jump, relay race, 80m,150m and 600m. We didn’t win the competition over all but we did win the high jump, came 2nd in the 150m and 3rd in the 600m. A big well done to everyone who took part (especially since it was pouring down with rain for most of the day.)

P6 are doing Technology with Mrs Buist. P6 are doing a project about carriers and we are making our own bags with recycled plastic. We made names up for our technology items such as “PLOOL” which is our wool but it is made from plastic which we chopped up from carrier bags from Tesco, Asda and Morrisons bags. Then we tied them to each other and knitted the plastic which made “PlOOL”. We also came up with another name “COMPLAST” which is ironed plastic bags. P6 are hoping to show you our finished carriers at a future assembly.

We have used the whiteboard for the first time and it was great fun! In writing time we wrote a letter of complaint and we improved our letter formation.
Our topic is “Shops.” We have organised the class in small groups so everyone can make different things. We have decided to run a small shop with a cafe. We also decided to observe the high street shops to make our own P2/3 high street. Let’s go shopping!!!
