Glow Learn: Planning and Organising Content

*Please note that this post will be updated.
Following a very productive and constructive training course last week, last night I finally managed to set some time aside to start working on my own Glow Learn project for the ‘Phase 3’ trial of the Glow portal.
I would like to emphasise, at this point in time, [...]

Glow Learn: ‘Phase 3′

’Phase 2’ of Glow has come and gone. Here in East Lothian we are getting ourselves ready for ‘Phase 3’ (Glow Learn). During the first two phases it has mainly been the usability of Glow that was tested. During ‘Phase3’ we will be putting the portal through its final trial before it goes live. I [...]

Glow’s Gone On Holiday!

After a ‘giant’ of a working week where both blog and sleep have been sacrificed, I have finally found the time to catch up on the latest news. Thursday was the last day of the ‘Phase 2’ trial of the Glow portal. Glow should return sometime in June for ‘Phase 3′.
Rather than rewrite Neil’s [...]

INT 1 Biologists: ‘Glow’-ing

Today my Intermediate 1 Biologists and I were using Glow (not for a lesson, more a collaborative support platform). We were very pleased that Mr David Gilmour was able to join us today. I have no big ‘new’ news. Glow is meant to be a supporting body, and that, it was today. We uploaded more [...]

A ‘Glow’-ing Week Ahead

This week there is lots of action happening in the ‘Phase 2’ trial of the Glow portal across Scotland and in East Lothian. Yesterday we held a video Conference where a number of East Lothian mentors were able to join us. New things we investigated included sharing an Excel Document with Robert Jones, where members [...]

Glow ‘Phase 2′: Calling All Biologists!

During the last week or so I, and a number of others, have spent a good bit of time investigating the tools of the ‘Phase 2’ trial of the Glow portal. By Wednesday this week, I and Dave R are hoping to have set up a Video Conference with pupils in school. In addition, we [...]

Google’s Latest Purchase!

Courtesy of Neil Winton, I have just heard that Marratech, Glow’s Video Conferencing tool, has been bought over by Google.
I think that this is very good news for Glow.
I will be holding a Video Conference for all East Lothian Mentors, 6pm on Monday (23/04/07). Please drop me a comment if you weren’t on this afternoon’s [...]

An Invite To Glow

Following last Wednesday’s successful Video Conference via the Glow portal I, along with others, had planned two more sessions. Last night saw the second session and tonight we will hold our third. The second session was really just to familiarise ourselves with the Marratech Forum. We also had visits from Marratech newbies, Susan Shepherd, Liz [...]

‘Glow’-ing On GNER

During the last couple of days I, along with others, have had a good stab at getting started with the Video Conferencing (VC) and Chat tools in the ‘Phase 2’ trial of the Glow portal. During my return Journey from London, I decided to ‘splash-out’ and purchase some credits for GNER’s wifi. Contrary to my [...]

Glow ‘Chat’ And ‘Video-Conferencing’

What a glorious day! In addition to the weather, I experienced my first ‘Chat’ and ‘Video-Conferencing’ via the Glow portal. I frequently use both MSN and Skype to communicate online with friends and colleagues, so I was particularly curious to find out how the Marratech and Java applications would compare when used through the Glow [...]
