Crazy Talk And iClone.
This week I attended an eLearning Alliance meeting in Perth. The meeting was lead by Bill Esdale from Techknowledgey.
During this meeting we looked at some new software.
Crazy talk is an application that allows the user to take an image (or portrait) and digitally bring it to life. In East Lothian we have five ’stand alone’ licences that we will be installing on PC machines at Campie Primary School (we are hoping that they will run on the ASUS MiniBooks- with XP?).
Here is my five minute attempt-
I hope I don’t look and sound like that in real life!
You can edit lots of features though I only had time to play with a couple of facial expressions and the voice morphing (for the time being).
This software will be fantastic for encouraging writing; what is a character without a script?! I am looking forward to seeing what the pupils produce!
iClone is another piece of software that allows you to edit and personalise your own avatar, create scenes, edit lighting effects and character emotions. It is similar to Media Stage. Here is my five minute attempt:
If you look closely you should see that the avatar’s face is familiar (I don’t think I look too dissimilar!)
I know my clips are pretty silly, but this stuff is really fun! I can see it really enthusing and engaging youngsters- They will be learning without knowing it.
I would like to thank Bill Esdale for his time after the meeting on Wednesday.
Anyway, I have just had Media Stage installed on my laptop so I am off to have a play!

It’s all a bit strange, eery even. You’ve got those eyes that follow you around the room
I’ve never seen it done with photographs until now, but with illustrations that kids have drawn. That works particularly well.
