BETT 2008- London Olympia

This week and weekend I, along with a number of other colleagues from Scotland, attended the BETT Show at London’s Olympia. BETT is one of the world’s largest educational technology events. It had been my intention to write one or two posts during my time there, however time simply did not allow.

One train journey, three days and nights, six seminars, 46 stand appointments, one TeachMeet, 4 Kilos of leaflets and freebies and a plane journey home; I can tell you I am at this moment suffering from some form of Jet-lag!

It was all very much worth while and I would be lying if I said that I did not enjoy the mania of the event.

The scale of this show is vast. Above is just one of the four halls that make up Olympia. I had been to the ‘Boat Show’ years ago, but I had forgotten how big the place is!

If you can imagine the Scottish Learning Festival, but just multiply it by four (it is very very big!). There were of course a lot of stands that were not really relevant to Scottish Education so I was very glad to have planned a route around the show, visiting stands that were applicable to my Authourity between seminars. Over the course of next week I will write a few posts on the things I saw that are of interest to us here in East Lothian… And believe me there is more than enough!

Just a couple of words thanks (more to come later). Firstly to East Lothian Council for allowing me to attend this event and covering my travel expenses and secondly to my wonderful Grandmother for letting me use her appartment as a base (again!).

Watch this space next week… ;-)
