Ross High School- Trialling The Visualiser.
During the last two weeks, Humbie Primary School have been trialling a Genee Visualiser. This afternoon, I went out to Ross High School in Tranent. The visualiser was scheduled to be trialled by the Science and CDT Departments at the School. You can find out more about it on my recent post here.
Whilst the Visualiser was at Humbie, we had hoped to integrate it with their Promethean White Board. However due to a number of technical hitches, beyond our control, we were unable to do so.
At Ross High today I met with Fearghal Kelly (Teacher of Biology) and Stuart Meldrum (Teacher of CDT). Both Stuart and Fearghal will be using and testing the device in their own subject areas. Earlier in the week I had asked Fearghal to bring in any appropriate materials that he might like to view under the visualiser. Three Years ago Fearghal badly fractured his ankle. Today he brought in the X-rays of this injury. We proceeded to explore these using the visualiser’s ‘Negative’ effect. Bearing in mind that my Jpegs are photos of the screen, taken with my camera, taken by the visualiser’s camera, which in turn is a negative of an X-ray (a photo, of a photo, of a photo, so to say!), you can see how detailed this device’s images are!
(Fearghal’s X-ray shows the heel of his foot in the bottom right. His toes are somewhere up on the right- not on the X-ray)
Using the ‘Negative’ effect.

Normal Mode.

Personally, I am surprised that Fearghal can still walk!!!
I am looking forward to hearing about how both Departments get on. I have my fingers crossed that we will finally be able to integrate it with an IWB, or at least get to the root of the problem.
The Visualiser- ‘A Teacher’s best friend!!!’
