Glow- Our Approval Portal
This afternoon I had my first ‘play’ with the Glow portal since June.
Here in East Lothian Dave Rawson (East Lothian’s Glow Implementation Officer) has been working away planning and testing. It is not just as simple as one might think. There are huge implications for the Authority. One of our primary decisions involves the ‘switching’ of school based email accounts. It is a very complicated process involving decisions at a number of levels. However, I will leave that to Dave.
In the meantime, Dave has set-up accounts (via RM/LTS) for himself, Elizabeth Cowan, Karen Robertson and myself, on our ‘Temporary Approval’ portal. This portal is restricted to East Lothian. It is not really any different to the earlier trials. However, it does allow us to familiarise ourselves with Glow and it’s components.
Today Dave, Elizabeth and I decided to explore the ‘Glow Messenger’ component. It was somewhat ironic however, as we were sitting within a ten metre radius of each other! Nonetheless, I was very excited.
We will be holding an informal festive ‘Glow Gathering’ for East Lothian’s Glow mentors on Monday the 17th of December. Dave will give our Mentors a brief presentation using the portal followed by some good old ‘Glow’ chat, mince pies and coffee.

Tess
That’s just the way it was! There’s a lot of testing to do with Glow Groups and setting up some test schools. However this temporary site is not due to last very long but we do hope to have the real thing going just after Christmas Let’s see what Santa can bring Ho Ho Ho!
