Glow ‘Phase 2′: Calling All Biologists!

During the last week or so I, and a number of others, have spent a good bit of time investigating the tools of the ‘Phase 2’ trial of the Glow portal. By Wednesday this week, I and Dave R are hoping to have set up a Video Conference with pupils in school. In addition, we would like to try and do the same with a class in another local authourity (i.e. have the two classes discussing and sharing their ideas and work in one conference or at least in a Glow chat forum). So far, Dundee have expressed interest. I have spent a bit of time this weekend investigating the quickest way to set up this communication. In doing so, I have also come across a couple of minor defects within the portal (that’s what trial phases are for!). I will feed this back to RM, fully, at the end of the ‘Phase 2’ trial.
When I first received my ‘Phase 2’ username, I modified a Glow group called ‘S3’. Prior to the Easter break, the class had been uploading their projects and discussing them within this group. However, due to one reason or another, we couldn’t use all of the web-parts in the ‘S3’ Glow group. Acting on the advice of the Glow Support, and with the help of Vicky MacKenzie at LTScotland, we have created a new Glow group. This Glow group has all the desired web-parts (moderated by me) and is available to all of the pupils in that class.

Ultimately I would like to share the work we are doing in Biology with another Intermediate 1 Biology class in another region or school. Please drop me an email or leave a comment if you are interested. I am more than happy to organise the access to the group.
