HMIe Visit

We are now in our second week of an HMIe inspection at Knox Academy. This is our week of intensive observation.
Although my department was not chosen to be fully inspected, we were hoping that we would have the satisfaction of an HMIe visit.
Today was our/my lucky day! I was fortunate enough to have the pleasure of a visit from one of the HMIe team during my Standard Grade Biology lesson. Today, we were looking at ‘Making Cheese’.

The Cheese!

This is part of the Biotechnology sub-unit of the Standard Grade Biology syllabus. Although there was no flashy PowerPoint to be observed during this particular lesson, I was given the opportunity to enlighten HMIe with some of our ongoing developments. HMIe were particularly interested in my Department’s past and present work on ‘Monitoring Of Pupil Learning’ and ‘Sharing Good Practice’ (Departmental observation/cross marking etc). They were also interested in my pupil’s work (jotters) and Tracking.
I am pleased to say today was a very positive experience!
I would like to thank HMIe for their time today.

Well done Tess. I’m glad (but not surprised) that it went so well.
