On Monday, seven of us attended a thought provoking talk and discussion on the psychology of dealing with climate change led by Morris Bradley. Here are some brief notes from his talk: Morris Bradley Discussions.
For me, the main message was
1)- the importance of developing a clear and attractive vision of a zero carbon society so that this becomes an attractive (rather than a threatening) alternative to our suicidally fossil-fuel addicted society,
2)- not to worry about trying to convince everybody of the scale of the threat or the need for dramatic change but to concentrate on those capable of deep commitment who are ready to take the message on board and become opinion-formers,
3)- the importance personal contacts and of working together to provide mutual support to sustain ourselves,
4)- to realise that change can come about very suddenly given the necessary trigger.
Maybe others who were there would like to add their own comments?
Morris would be happy to come out to Dunbar again to lead further discussions and/or to give awareness raising talks.
