St Andrew’s Day Lunch

Our school lunch on Thursday was a special lunch to celebrate St Andrew’s Day. The dining hall had been decorated and a special menu planned. We were served haggis, neeps and tatties and then shortbread. We were treated to Scottish music and most of the pupils particularly enjoyed Dark Island. We wanted to say a huge THANK YOU to all the kitchen staff for a lovely lunch.

Do you know any good Scottish recipes?

Stoneyhill is currently making a link with a school in Tanzania.  The school is called Makabe Primary School and it is in Dar Es Salaam which is Tanzania’s largest city.  P4 and P4/5 have been making a Scottish brochure and a Scottish recipe book to send to Tanzania. Do you have any Scottish recipes that we could include in our recipe book?  If you do please send them into school and give them to P4 or P4/5.  Remember to write your name on your recipe. Thank you very much for your help

Liam, Rachel U and all of P4 and P4/5

Playground Pals are Coming!

The new team of Playground Pals has been chosen. It was a very difficult decision as the standard of interviews and application forms were very high. Well done to all those who were successful and a huge thank you to all who were not, you still gave us lots of ideas about how we can improve our playground.

The Playground Pals are being trained at the moment but look out for their caps… They are coming to your playground soon!

Operation Christmas Child - DEADLINE EXTENDED TO MONDAY 17/11/08

To date we have received around 50 shoe boxes in school for this worthwhile cause.  I know that many families may have already donated through their local church or another organisation but we have decided to extend collection until Monday morning in the hope that we might receive a few more boxes.  For anybody that has lost or misplaced their leaflet, all the information that you require about what you can and cannot put in boxes, gift ideas, labels, etc can be found and downloaded by visiting www.operationchristmaschild.org.uk.   Thanking you in advance for your participation.

Rag Bag Collection

The Rag Bag Collection will take place on Thursday 13th November. Rag Bag is a recycling scheme that aims to increase recycling of usable textiles to prevent landfill. It helps the school to raise funds and helps to increase recycling awareness. The collections are also part of our Eco-Schools commitment.

All pupils will be given a plastic bag to take home and hopefully be able to return it full of textiles that you no longer want or need around your house.

What We Collect.

We collect all types of unwanted textiles including adult’s and children’s clothes, paired shoes, hats, bags, belts, curtains, towels and bed linen. It is important that you remember to pair shoes by tying the laces together, or pair shoes with an elastic band. We take all qualities of textiles, even ripped or with buttons missing!!!
