Robots

October 22nd, 2008 by stentonp1

This week we went to the hall in Stenton Village and talked about safety with a robot!  The robot spoke to us and it said peoples names and it said that we could win prizes if we make safety posters.  We are going to make these posters of safety things in the classroom. The robot was very big and it moved and it kicked Naomi!  The robot is coming back to see us soon in the hall again.

Climate in the Dominican Republic

October 2nd, 2008 by notnets

On Monday afternoon we learned about the climate in the Dominican Republic. Half the year has Summer, and the other half is the rainy season. They also have hurricanes.  Because the climate is different from Scotland they don’t have brick houses, they have wooden houses. Sometimes they build their houses from old stuff because they don’t waste anything as they are poor. They have a hurricane shelter in part of the island to keep safe when it’s hurricane season. They have to take their food there.

Last week some of the class were doing maths . In the lesson they were learning about right angles and they were having to match up corners and shapes .Today the little class had gym and they were playing Sticky Witches .They also learnt how to jog properly with L-shaped arms and this tied in with them learning about right angles . The p1 and p2 classes are all missing the p7 class who are away at Dounans school camp . Thomas has moved into his big sister Emily’s bed while she is away . They are really missing them at playtime and lunchtime and look forward to them all coming back . Today the library van came and while some of the class went into the van Mr Wharton entertained the rest of the class with his guitar . Today he played a song about bright yellow pyjamas which the pupils found very amusing .The next time he comes into the school to play his guitar the class want him to wear a pair of bright yellow pyjamas .
