A History Teacher’s view of the world

Profile

Teacher of History

I trained as a Teacher of History at Stirling University and graduated in March 2005. I worked at Wallace High School in Stirling from Januray 2005 until June 2005 as a Supply Teacher. Teaching a variety of subjects including History, Geography, RME and PSE, I gained valuable experience in the classroom. In addition, I spent time in the Pupil Support department working in the Behaviour Support unit and as a classroom assisstant.

I completed my Probationery year (2005-2006) at Wallace High School before securing a permanent post at Knox Academy, East Lothian in 2006.

Outwith the classroom I am the Pipe Major of the newly established Knox Academy Pipe Band which is going from strength to strength and I am undertaking the process of becomming an officer in the Knox Academy Combined Cadet Force. In addition to these activities, I am also involved with the Knox Academy CCF Centenery Committee and am responsible for organising this years Remembrance Assembly to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the Great War. Furthermore, I am on the Website Development Group.

Hobbies and Interests

I have many interests mostly in the great outdoors and am always willing to try something new. My main hobbies include sailing and piping. I sail with Ocean Youth Trust Scotland as a 3rd mate. I passed my RYA Yachtmastmaster Theory last year and I am hoping to sit my Coastal Skipper Practical exam in the near future. I am also Pipe Sergeant with the Kirkintilloch Pipeband and we compete in Grade 4A.

I also ice-skate (or try to stay vertical) regularly as well as play the keyboard and guitar and enjoy looking after my dog Kali.
