Geography’s Place

h1 November 30th, 2006

Have been reading on blogs about Geography’s place in the curriculum and peoples concerns. What has been interesting has been the comments on taking Geography outdoors. I’ve always thought it a fundamental part of our subject that we have to take the pupils outdoors. When i told my 2nd years about an Amercian field trip recently everyone was instantly stimualted and alert. I want to be able to show these things to my classes. What’s stopping us doing solely geography trips? just a concern I am developing.

Three weeks into first placement at DGS, quickly learning how to improvise and deal with pupil discipline. If anyone has any ideas on how to get 3rd years interested in the weather please tell me. Found a good way to recap a lesson with my 1st and 2nd years is to make up games, going to try a cue card game tomorrow.
