P2 Fairground Attraction

Our class have been learning all about the fairground. We learned about the ferris wheel (from the very first one to the tallest due to open next year). We found out that steel rollercoasters go much faster than wooden ones. Our classroom assistant Mrs Scott used to own a restaurant and she answered lots of questions about cooking food for lots of people. Please look at our own 2H ferris wheel and the fairground rides we made !

P3 pupils like being vets in the role-play area.

Children In Need

Today we all came dressed in our pyjamas or something beginning with the letter ‘P’ (for Pudsey). We had a wonderful array of jammies and imaginative penguins, policewoman, parcels, princesses and pirates.

The Global Citizenship reps collected and counted the money and were busily snapping away on the camera. We raised £448. Well Done!!

P6 Lantern Parade

On Friday the 7th of November P6 did their lantern parade. We all met at the Tranmare at 6.15. We had to wait ages until we did anything. We collected our lanterns at 6.25. It took about 5 minutes to turn all the torches on. Alyx’s torch wouldn’t come on and Michaels lantern fell of the stick it was attached to We left the Tranmare at 6.40 it was raining lightly until we were about to do the parade but when we started, it started raining quite heavily.

When we got into the field everybody was absolutely freezing. The field was very muddy and our shoes started to sink into the mud. The fireworks are better when you are at the front because you can see them from when they set off.The fireworks went really high and were really bright.The fireworks were all different,some of them were shaped like a circle.There was a firework that was a bit like a spray and they birst at the top. Quite a few people were recording the fireworks on their phones. Once the fireworks had finished our sticks were collected from our lanterns and we took our lanterns home.The Fireworks were very good we all enjoyed the fireworks a lot but we were relieved when it was over because we were all so cold and wet.

Making new friends in the Hub

William , Lucas and Jorden from p4/5 met children from the Infant class in the Hub. We met Jonathan, Danny, Aimee and Katie. We went for a walk with them around Tranent and we learnt some new sign language. We made some new friends.

Rag Bag Day

Rag Bag day was organised by the nusery and the Eco committee. The idea was for us to recycle old clothes, hats, shoes, belts etc and bring them into school. The company Rag Bag pay us for every kilogram of clothes we bring in. So far we have collected 176 kilograms collected (with more to come).

The Hub Curriculum Night

Meet the Sanderson’s Wynd Playground Squad

There are 5 leaders and 12 other members of our Playground Squad. We have been busy designing caps and we can now be easily recognised in the playground!

The playground squad have also delivered an assembly to the rest of the school explaining who they are, what they do and they even challenged the pupils to a skipping contest.

Currently, the squad are being trained by Lesley Nicholson (Active Schools Co-ordinator) in teaching other children some playground games. As part of this training they were excited to be asked to participate in a DVD to promote Active Schools and they did a fabulous job applying all the new skills and ideas they have learned.

The Playground Squad have recently taken delivery of some brand new playground equipment and they put in a bid to the Parent Council for funding towards having some games painted on the tarmac. We are looking forward to seeing the games painted in the next few weeks - a big thank you to the Parent Council for their help.
