She has been teaching Scottish Country Dancing to the whole school on Wednesday afternoons. The pupils have thoroughly enjoyed this experience. Yesterday was the final session and parents were invited to join the celebration. It was lovely to see such support and to see so many parents dancing!

All schools in East Lothian were invited to take part in a poster competition for anti-smoking. Emma Totney won first prize in the P7 category for designing a poster promoting a smoking free environment. She received a £20 book token from Councillor Peter MacKenzie at a recent Education Committee meeting in John Muir House. What a star Emma is!

JRSO Assembly February 28, 2008
Posted by Laura Leslie in : P4/5/6/7, Uncategorized , add a commentToday our Junior Road Safety Officers gave an assembly to the school. They started by showing a clip from a road safety video. They then played a traffic lights game which was great fun! The girls also launched their latest competition - pupils have to design a 3D car or safety vehicle. Closing date for the competition is Monday 18th March. Maggie Gunn, Road Safety Officer for the council, came along to support the girls. She gave them each a mug to reward them for all their hard work! The assembly was very informative and great fun! Well done Emma, Ashley and Hannah!

Granny and Grandad February 21, 2008
Posted by Laura Leslie in : P1/2/3, Uncategorized , add a commentP1/2/3 have just started a new topic. We will be learning about what life was like in the past. We have formed learning questions about things we would like to find out
- What was school like for Granny?
- What was her home like when she was little?
- What toys and games did Granny with?
- How did she travel? Did she have a car?
We have a visitor in the classroom. She is called Granny Sutherland and she has come to help us with our topic. We also have lots of interesting discovery areas set up where we can find out more about life in the past.

Kung Hey Fat Choy! February 4, 2008
Posted by Laura Leslie in : Nursery, P1/2/3 , 1 comment so farThis week Nursery and P1/2/3 are celebrating the Chinese New Year Festival together. Today we made a Chinese Dragon that we will be dancing with later in the week. In each classroom we have different active learning areas set up. We have a construction area where we are building the Great Wall of China. Both rooms have a Chinese Cafe. We also made playdough with Chinese spices. On Friday in P1/2/3 we are having a Chinese Banquet to sample different foods and in Nursery this is ongoing thoughout the week.
