The Toys that came to Visit November 22, 2007
Posted by Laura Leslie in : P1/2/3 , add a commentAs part of our Puppets topic, we have been looking at toys and games from the past. We have brought into school a selection of toys from home, that belonged to our parents and grandparents. It’s been great too see so many different toys and games from the past. During circletime we showed our toys to each other and spoke about how old they are and who they belonged to. Look at our photo by clicking here! toys.jpg

The nursery class and P1/2/3 have been learning about the Hindu festival of light - Divali.
At assembly today the nursery played some indian music using an indian drum and other instruments. Dexter very kindly brought the drum in from home.
P1/2/3 have been learning the story of Rama and Sita and customs associated with the festival. They have made rangoli patterns, diva lamps, indian sweeties and shadow puppets. They used their shadow puppets today to tell the story of Rama and Sita at assembly.
Feel free to look at our Divali work which is displayed in the classrooms and corridors.
The Old Oak November 8, 2007

Strong and majestic for all to see.
His bark is wrinkly, tough and bold,
Standing strong, so very old.
His branches are mossy and very bare.
He stands like a giant through the wind and hail,
No wonder he’s cracked from head to tail.

Another triumph for Maya! November 2, 2007
Posted by Saltoun Office in : P4/5/6/7, Uncategorized , 1 comment so farToday Elaine Bloem got a message on the phone from
Tesco and it said that Maya was one of the winners from the Haddington
Tesco store Halloween competition! How cool is that?!?
Maya entered the Halloween competition to draw a scary
creepy crawly and came first in the store. She will now go forward to
the national competition, where she is hoping to win a TV and a family
trip to Cadbury World… of course we all hope she will win too!
Nonetheless, she’s done very well to get this far.
