Direct Proportion

Direct proportion is when you start off with the price or weight of the amount of some thing:
Price/Lollipop
10p / 1
we then coould be asked wat the price of 5 lollipops would be???
So if one lollipop is 10p then if we use direct proportion we should relise that the other 4 lollipiops would be 10p so add the amount together and u work ure way up to find out that h lollopops would be 50p.
price/lollipops
10p / 1
50p/ 5
The way for working this out is by dividing the weight cost or height ect.. by the amount of product you have so you find out the amount of one. then you times it by the requested amount of product to get your answer!!
it may sound confusing but its very simple…………
try some of these…
1a)
bricks/weight
5 25g
find out the amount to two bricks?
2a) sweets/cost
2 30
find the cost of 4 sweets??

I like your use of extra questions. This is something I wish my students did more. I am curious though. Could you change the colour of your text when giving a question so that it stands out against the rest of your scribe.

That sounds “interesting” i find that direct proportion is sooooooooooooooo annoying because you have to do whole load of showing your workig in a table e.g. Some dude buys 3 lollipops for 15P how mutch would 4 be?

1 | =0.15/3=0.05P
4 | =0.05*4=0.20P
And whole load of stuff like that BUT HARDER!

well done on the post! I think that direct proportion is quite easy! i dont really understand the table though so mabey you could explain that to me in class some time or leave another comment to explain it to me?

Oh is there a text bar for you to change colours or make the font bold or italic?? Different colours grab the attention of the audience, and make the scribe post look more fun… and bold/ italics highlight the important parts of the post…just a suggestion that’ll help in the long run!!
Sorry Dan for using this space to talk to Mr. Jones. Since I do not have your email I would like to extend an idea. As part of a scribe post one should have to go to another schools blog and leave a comment on that schools scribe. I have 4 rooms of Grade 8 Students here and I know of another school that would really benefit from having an audience from across the sea.
Please email me so that I can give you the addresses of the Schools that blog. It would be an excellent way to improve the quality of scribes when they know that someone other than their teacher and classmates are reading their posts.
The questions are a great idea….. hopefully someone will step up to the plate and answer them
Our blogging tool doesn’t have buttons to change the colour of text. I’ll try to find a plugin to make that possible.
Mr Harbeck - an email’s on the way. I think it’s a good idea to ask students to comment across the atlantic. At least one my class has done so on a Sargent park blog, and I’m sure my class will be really interested to see Lisa’s comment.
