Sorry I wasn't able to get along to today's session. Trying to cover both in 30 minutes was ambitious, but hopefully people will now have some idea of how they might be useful, and that they're quite enjoyable to use.

Some things that might help:
- Staff with EL email addresses can create edubuzz blogs, or just sign up for a login, at http://edubuzz.org/blogs. Once you've a login, any blog Admin can grant you access to any individual blog.
- There are some training screencast videos which might help get people started.

As always, happy to follow up with individuals or groups.

You need to be registered as a user of Limesurvey; I've done that now and you should have received login details. Happy to meet if you want a quick tour to get you started. Have a look first, and see what you think...

Thanks David - some really useful points. I think you've also demonstrated the benefits of posting this sort of thing online!

I've just had a look at "http://edubuzz.org/limesurvey/" - can you explain how to create a survey on there? I can't see how.

Also, re the confusion over what % means, there's a "Popular misconceptions" article on the Counton.org Maths site which might help:

It helps if you consider the percentage sign, %, as a misprint, with the correct version as
/00. This is to remind yourself that it means 'divided by 100' .

Thanks for starting this blog, I'd be happy to join you for any of these sessions if you felt that might be useful.

Re percentages: I notice surveys cropping up, and the potential benefits of relating the use of percentages to real, relevant situations.

There are a couple of options currently available which would enable staff and students to create their own surveys and perhaps gather some data which was interesting for students: the survey tool in Glow Groups and the Limesurvey open source web-based survey tool now installed on edubuzz.org (http://edubuzz.org/limesurvey) which has been used recently for the P6 / S2 survey. Although a powerful product, Limesurvey is very easy to use, and simple surveys can be created in minutes. Data can be exported easily to Excel.
