Catch-up!
Health Week
Our last activity for Health Week was to make two lists. One of funky fruit and the other of virtual veggies.

We had to use a dictionary to get the spelling correct and then illustrate our sheets with fruit or vegetables. I enjoyed Health Weeks but my favourite thing was the morning walk. Elle
Show and Tell (from last week)
I brought in my two knitted Scottish dolls and their dog and Mrs Stewart said I could do a show and tell with them.
I got them for my 5th birthday and my granny made them for me. My mum thinks it took her about two weeks to make them. My grandad helped a little bit with the dog. I like them because they are the only toys my little sister hasn’t broken! Niamh
For my show and tell I brought in my Hibs CD.
It is their old songs not their new ones. My little sister doesn’t like when I play it and asks our mum to make me put it off! When it is a home game I go to watch Hibs with my dad. Ellis
I brought in my Star Wars spaceship for show and tell. I got it for my Christmas and play with it a lot. The top hatch opens and you can fit two men in, one in the front and one in the back. Garry
Storywriting
For our storywriting this week we had to do another writers’ craft story. My title was about Grandad’s cupboard which had been kept locked for nineteen years. In my add on bit I opened the cupboard and found diamonds and money.
Some people had to write about a bad dream a little boy called George had after his gran gave him cheese on toast for his supper. We chose twelve star-writers to have their stories put up on the wall. Rebecca
Transition - session 1
We had our first transition session today. We met Ash and we all had to sign a contract for our meetings. We decided good rules would be - be nice, work in teams and listen to everyone. Once we had all put our names on the sheet she told us the story - The Huge Bag of Worries. It was about a little girl called Jenny and how she was worried about going to the big school.
[bubbleshare 596570.8379e542055]
We had to write down what worries we thought she might have. When Jenny told the old lady about her worries a lot of them disappeared, some the old lady gave to other people like mum and dad, and some just didn’t seem important any more. We had to pretend to be worries and give each worry a shape. We also met Katie and wrote down any worries she might have about going to the primary school. I enjoyed the time with Ash and Katie. Shannon
Library Visit
It was our turn to go to the library on Monday to change our books.
Erica read us a new story called Mammoth Pie which was really funny.
Erica also thanked us for behaving so well and being so quiet when we were in the library. Brodie
transition - session 2
For our second slot, we met Ash again. Anyone who had been off for the first session had to agree to and sign our contract. For our warm up we played a game of “funky chicken”. It was fun. Then Ash read us a story called Billy and the Big New School. It was about a boy worrying about going to a new school.

After that we wrote down any worries we had about going up to the primary and put them into a worry box. We took the box back to class in case anyone wanted to add any more worries. We didn’t have time to decorate it though. Our worry box is going up to the primary to the P 4’s and they are going to read our worries. I am enjoying our transition sessions. Alex
Road Safety
On Tuesday we had a visit from Gwen, who works with Lothian and Borders Police. She spoke to us about crossing the road safely and always using the Green Cross Code.
She also told us about safe places to cross the road, like with the lollipop man, at traffic lights using the green man, a zebra crossing or where there is a traffic island. Then we watched a video about Charlie and his dog Max who were going to a birthday party and walking there by themselves. They tried to stay away from traffic whenever they could to keep themselves safe.
We all got a road safety activity booklet to take home with us. It was really good and I especially enjoyed it because I am the Infant Road Safety Officers for our school. Shannon
PE
It was another nice sunny day on Tuesday so Miss Bell took us out into the playground for PE. This week we were practising hockey skills, on our own and then with a partner. Our warm up was a game of balance tig and if you were caught you had to balance on one leg until someone touched you.

After our hockey skills practice we were put at different stations. There was skipping, bench ball, hockey dribbling and relay running in different ways, like fast, slow, backwards. It was really nice to be outside again. Ryan
RE
We have been learning about Islam and this week we were thinking about mosques. The big round roof is called the dome and usually beside the mosque is a tall tower called a minaret. From the minaret the people are called to prayer five set times every day. They must face Mecca which is their holy city and they must wash before praying. We saw some pictures of mosques and some of them were very beautiful. Inside they are decorated with mosaic tiles in either floral or geometric patterns.

We have been decorating tile patterns in our spare minutes. It is really interesting finding out about other religions. Abby
Packed Out Dance
On Thursday we had a visit from Beth. She works with the Art Service at the Brunton Hall. First she got us warmed up by doing robot movements and we all had to copy her. Then we were put into four teams and each team had to do their own robot movements and the others had to copy.
[bubbleshare 594666.a28cf4b2afa]
Next we had to pass on a dance move to someone else until everyone was doing it and then we played “dance whispers”. Mrs Stewart thought it was really interesting how the movement had changed by the time it got to the 5th person. Last of all we played the autumn leaf game. I thought it was all really really good and we tried the dance whispers game in the playground. Eirinn
Show and Tell
For my show and tell I brought in my Taekwon-Do licence. I go to Taekwon-Do every Tuesday with my twin brother Dylan. I have a yellow tag just now and am working for my yellow belt. I like going to the class because you learn how to do lots of different moves. Taylor
I brought in a very special trophy for my show and tell.
I got it when I was only one year old in the Gala Bonniest Baby competition. I was first! I keep it up on my shelf so that my sister doesn’t get it. It has a little mirror on the back so that you can look at yourself. Abby
