A Busy Week

Sticker Card Completed

On Tuesday I managed to finish my second  sticker card.  card.jpg   It has taken me quite a long time to do it as we only get a sticker if work is neat and all correct.  I was the first person in my class to finish the card and everyone wanted to know what the reward was.  badge.jpg   It was a special smiley face badge.  I chose a red one and Mrs Stewart put it on my sweatshirt.  My dad was so pleased he said I can get another fish to add to my collection at the weekend.  Rebecca

Reading Books

book.jpg For our reading book this week we had an information book called Amazing Environments.     My favourite chapter was the one about cold deserts.  book-2.jpg   There was also a section about rainforests and after we had finished our reading activity we were allowed to draw a picture from the book.  I picked the howler monkey picture to copy.  Lee

Performance of Play

One of our stories for reading this week wasn’t a story - it was a play.  It was called The Millstone and was about a fisherman and his rich greedy cousin.  play.jpg   We all took a part to read and I was child 1.  We read so well with everyone coming in at the right time and and saying their lines with  good expression that we were allowed to perform the play for the rest of our class.   I was not nervous but very excited.  Everyone enjoyed the play and we all got a big clap at the end.   We also got a sticker for our card.  Ellie

Music While We Work.

Sometimes if we are working very quietly we can listen to music.  On Monday we were all doing our project work and Mrs Stewart said she would put on some pan pipe music.  Pan pipes are an instrument played mostly in South America.  I really enjoyed the pan pipes.  Sometimes we also listen to rainforest sounds.  Erin  music.AVI

Project Book Covers

We got to design a cover for our rainforest book.  We had to have the title on it and then we could draw anything we wanted to do with the rainforest.  When everyone is finished we are going to get our covers laminated.

I was up to date with all my pages so decided to do a fact box.  I had to look in one of the rainforest books and find out an interesting fact.  emily-facts.jpg   I discovered that during the day fruit bats roost upside down in caves or trees.  Coll did his own fact boxes  coll-facts.jpg  and found out that there are many varieties of viper in the rainforest and that not all frogs are green.. Poison dart frogs come in many colours to ward off their enemies.  Emily

Project Pages

This week our first page for our topic book was about rainforest levels.  levels.jpg   We had to name each level of the rainforest and then colour in the picture.  To make mine look really good I mixed my colours of green pencil together.  Coll

For our next page we were looking at the forest floor and the creatures that live there.  floor-2.jpg   We had to draw and write a little bit about a plant, an animal and an insect. forest-floor.jpg I chose the rafflesia, which is the biggest flower in the world, a clouded leapard and a tarantula spider.  Rebecca

Rainforest Maths

We have found a new site on the internet for our mental maths called Rainforest Maths.  So far we have looked at addition, multiplication, division, and area.  rainforest-maths.jpg   Each activity uses rainforest animals in the pictures and is very colourful.   This morning though we couldn’t use the interactive whiteboard as all the laptops were being updated.  Instead we played buzz.  It was good fun!  Rebecca and I were the two winners out of the whole group when we played even numbers.  Alex

Show and Tell

For my show and tell I brought a picture of my name.  emma.jpg   I got it when I was on holiday in Tenerife and I like it because of all the colours in it. emma-2.jpg   My favourite letter in my name is the second M because I like dolphins.  My sister has a picture of her name, Amy, as well.  I keep it  on the wall in my bedroom.  Emma

kelly.jpg  I brought some photographs of my baby brother Dean for my show and tell.  They are mostly when he was very tiny and now he is one year old.  kelly-2.jpg  My favourite one is the one with my nana.  Dean has blue eyes and can walk now.  Kelly

Do you think the cluster map will reach 10,000 visitors by the end of term?

That would be great!
