New Serial Story

Our new serial story is called Welcome to the Alien Inn by B R Haynes.      It’s about an American boy and his family who get caught in a blizzard and have to stay in a hotel called Snowed Inn.  The people in the hotel are very strange and seem  like television characters.  The other children in the story are called Bart, Lisa and Maggie - just like in the Simpsons.  It is a really exciting story and we are all enjoying it.  Chanelle

Learning Stories Goals and Targets

My goal for 2008 is to learn how to play my guitar even better.       I go for guitar lessons every week to a lady in Haddington.  Alex

     I would like to finish my second big stamp card.  Rebecca

I go swimming every Friday      and my target is to get better at swimming underwater.  Amy

     My goal for 2008 is to be better at steering and driving the rescue boat.  Liam

Library Visit

It was our  turn to visit the library on Tuesday.          We all had to choose a book to take back to the classroom to read.  I chose I’m not scared by Jonathan Allen          which is a story about a baby owl.  Erin

Problem Solving

We have been doing some problem solving on the whiteboard.  The activity is called Guess the Number.  There are five clouds in the picture      and each one gives you a clue about the number you are trying to guess.  It might say odd or even, it might say the sum of the digits is nine,  greater than 25 or less than 50.      It is only when you put all five clues together that you really know what the mystery number is.       I have really got the hang of it now and have been getting on brilliantly.  Declan

Space Project

In our project book this week we have been finding out about the sun.  On one page we had to write some sun facts, like the sun is a star or that the sun is 93 million miles from Earth and on the other page we had to write down what the sun gives us.    Without the sun all the animals, including us, and plants would die as the sun gives us light and heat.  We had to colour in a bit of the sun and I used red, orange and yellow to do mine.  Alex

We have just about all finished decorating our Space project books.  We used sparkly pens for the

drawings and Mrs Stewart helped some of us with the bubble writing.  Coll

Project Gallery

Charlie and I built a rocket out of Lego.  We had to put lots of pieces on the bottom and then it got thinner at the top.  Dillon

I built a plane for going into space a bit like Virgin’s Spaceship Two.     We were looking at it on the internet and wondering if we would be able to go on our holidays into space.  Amy

     I used polydron to make a model sun.  Lewis

Declan and I made space craft to explore the stars.       My model is called the shark rover and Declans is the shark.   Lee

Emily, Amy and I  made rockets.       Amy made hers out of lego and Emily and I used Meccano.       My rocket is a transformer as it can turn into a dog      or a bird      because I didn’t screw the screws too tightly.  Rebecca

Country Dancing

On Tuesday we had Mr Dreyer for country dancing.  We had to practise our skipping and our side steps and then we did the Grand March.  After that we went over the Prince of Orange dance, which we knew already, and then a new dance called The Dhoon.  It was quite hard because you didn’t go in the same direction as your partner but the opposite and you also had to turn your partner first with your right hand and the second time with your left.  We are going to have a practice with Mrs Stewart before Mr Dreyer come back.  Rachel

CLASS NEWS

My mum is out of hospital now and she has had an operation.  She is getting better but I am not allowed to jump about near her as her tummy is still sore.  Rachel

I am going swimming for three hours today at Prestonpans Swimming Pool and I’ve never been before.  Leah

I am getting my hair cut today.      I can’t remember how long it has been long for and I am going to have  it short!  Emma

In the Easter holidays I am going to Butlins with my mum and dad.  There will be a funfair and swimming pool there.  Christopher

I am going bowling on Sunday at Fort Kinnaird with Erin and Sam.  It will be Erin’s birthday and she will be seven.  Ellie

Chloe in P 2/3 is coming to my house on Tuesday.  We might play with my dance mat or some of my games.  Chanelle

On Saturday I am going to Scott’s birthday party at the ten pin bowling and then we are going to Pizza Hut for something to eat.  Declan

I am going on holiday to Disneyland with my little sister, Laura.  Erin
