Billions and more billions!
We had a special visitor on Monday.
It was Sarah who had come to tell us about Vet-Aid. Vet-Aid help people and their animals in some East African Countries by teaching them how to look after their cows, goats, sheep and chickens if they get sick.
She also showed us a kind of bottle, made from a plant called a gourd, that is used for cows or goats milk as well as some Masaai flip-flops re-cycled from old car tyres.
At Assembly in the afternoon Lee in our class was dressed as a Masaai warrior. It was all very interesting. Chanelle
Learning Story goals and targets
I am the first person in our class to reach my goal which was to finish my big stampcard and get a card like Rebecca. I did this on Wednesday 30th January. Emma
My target for 2008 was to score a goal at football. Christopher
For 2008 I set myself the goal to get better at horse-riding which I do at the weekend. Rachel
I would like to get better at playing baseball in 2008. I practise with my dad in the garden. Declan
Book Reviews
We have just finished our class serial story.
It was Erik the Viking by Terry Jones and illustrated by Michael Foreman. It tells how Erik and his men went on a quest to find the land where the sun goes at night. We had to write a book review of the story. My favourite character was Erik because he did manage to find the place where the sun goes at night.

My favourite bit in the story was when Erik and his men had to fight the Dogfighters and realised that they were afraid not of the creatures but of being afraid. Coll
Space project corner
We have changed our project corner to a space corner.
It has lots of posters and lots of things about space as well as “what we would like to find out more about” balloons.
There are lots of interesting books and we have started to decorate the cover of our new Space project books. Rachel
Space
We have started our Space project books. First we had to decorate it with sparkly pens. Then we had to fill in a sheet about our Solar System.
The numbers are SO big ………. we found out that the sun, the centre of our solar system, is just one of 200 billion stars in the Milky Way and the Milky Way is just one galaxy among billions of galaxies in the Universe!!!!!!!! This week we are going to find out some statistics and facts about the sun. Emily
Project Gallery
These are two of the jigsaws we have been doing in our spare minutes. I started the big blue space one but lots of people helped me finish it and Alex did the one of the planets with a little help from Lewis at the beginning. Dillon
I used Lego to make a Lunar vehicle. Lee
I made a rocket out of Meccano and I put a astronaut in my rocket. Rachel
Country Dancing
We had country dancing today and learned another new dance. The dance was called The Dashing White Seargent and it had its own piece of special music. You danced in threes with one boy and two girls or two girls and one boy. It was tricky turning people with the right (correct) hand but we soon got the hang of it. It was good fun but quite hard and we were puffed out at the end. Tristian
Rainy Day Music
On Wednesday it rained all day! We had wet playtime and and a wet lunchtime. When we got back into the classroom after lunch Mrs Stewart thought it might help if we listened to some music. She told us the story of Orpheus and Euridice and then we listened to a piece of sad music from the opera. I shut my eyes to listen and the music made me feel really sad even though we knew the story had a happy ending. I like listening to lots of different kinds of music. Erin
We also listened to another piece of music called Habanera from an opera called Carmen. This music was all calm and gentle at first and then it had some really loud bits and I got a fright. Rebecca
Scottish Poetry
To celebrate Burns Day, the P 3’s had a Scottish Poetry Competition. We have made some podcasts so that over the next three weeks you can hear all the entries from our class. This week we have Leah reciting Wee Willie Winkie, Charlie saying The Wee Rid Motor, Amy and Rachel singing Katie Beardie and Alex performing The Sair Finger. burns-1.mp3
Show and Tell
I brought my fishing trophy in for show and tell. I got it for the heaviest fish caught in 2007.
It was a rainbow trout but I can’t remeber exactly how heavy it was! I go fishing with my grandad to Markle when we can at the weekends. Leah
For my show and tell I brought a poster to school. My dad got it for me at the sunday market. I keep in in my bedroom on top of my television. I like it because it always makes me laugh! Liam

I am going to change bedrooms with my brothers because they need a bigger room for all their things. I am going to have a Tinkerbell room and if I want to have someone for a sleepover they can sleep in my sister’s bed. Erin
My mum’s stepsister has had a baby boy. Kaitlin
Yesterday I went with my little brother Charlie, my mum, my gran and my dad to my brother’s drum centre because it was an Open Day. We were showing our mums and dads what we have been doing at Dance Class. Amy
On Friday I was at a wrestling match in the Brunton Hall in Musselburgh. All the wrestlers go into the ring at once and whoever is the last one in is the winner. I went with my dad and some of my friends. It was really good. Charlie
