Christmas cards, cacti and country dancing!
On Monday, after Assembly we have our Learning Stories time.
We think about what our targets are going to be and talk about them in our group. This week we were looking at a numbers target. Some people got to tick their target but some people had to have it for the following week.
My target was being able to count to 100 in fives and I need to practise a little bit more so that I can tick my target next week. Christopher
Storywriting
Instead of our storywriting this week we had to create four designs for the front of a Christmas card. It was quite hard work because we had to do it with a pencil first and then with a black pen. Once you had gone over everything, Mrs Stewart rubbed out the pencil marks.

To chose the best designs, all the pages were photographed so we could look at them on the whiteboard in a slide show. We picked about twenty designs
but only needed twelve. It was very hard to chose the best ones as they were all good. Kelly
Short Tennis
This was our last week of short tennis with Mr Murray. We were playing games with a partner again remembering drop, bounce and sweep, two serves each, keep the ball in the court and winner was the first person to score seven points. My partner was Rebecca and our score was 7:6 with Rebecca being the winner. I enjoyed our short tennis sessions with Mr Murray and think I would like to play real tennis like Andy Murray. Christmas cards
Once we had looked at the slideshow we had to choose only twelve designs. We voted to decide which ones should be picked. We were looking for cute designs with detail that we thought people would want to buy. Next we had to do the writing bits for the outside and inside of the cards and choose the neatest writing.
Then Mrs Stewart had to put the cards together and get some printed off so we could see what they looked like. Last of all we decided which little bit of colour
we wanted on each card.
Next week we will have to get them coloured in and put into packs ready for Christmas Bazaar where we are going to sell them. Lee
Project Review Sheet
This week we all did our project review sheet together. We had to say if we had liked doing the project on Ancient Egyptians and almost everyone said yes. Other questions were had we enjoyed making a project book, what kind of format did we like and did we think we had met our success criteria.
We had to get out our sheet that we made before we started and check that we had done everything we said we wanted to do. We had met our success criteria. I really enjoyed finding out all about Ancient Egypt and am looking forward to our new project which will start in January. Sarah G
Final Facts of the Week
I found out that no-one really knows exactly how the pyramids were built
but that each stone block weighed more than two cars. Amy
Egyptians believed that some animals were closely connected to magical powers and this was important because they were very superstitious. Emily
In one of our books I saw a picture and it said that the gods balance a dead man’s heart against the feather of truth.
If he has been good, he can go to the fields of Iaru (heaven) but if he has been bad, Ammut eats him! Emma
More Excitement!
Just before playtime on Thursday, the fire bell went off AGAIN! All the P 3’s were at spelling classes so we were not with our own teacher. We had to leave everything and go to the field. It was freezing cold outside and because it was not a practice we had to wait on the firemen coming. It seemed to take ages and because everyone was jumping about to keep warm, all the worms were coming up to the surface.
The firemen checked the school and we were allowed to go in. Mrs Stewart did not have her camera which was in her handbag, but once we were in again she went out and the firemen
let her take their picture. Rebecca
Emma in Tanzania
One of Mrs Stewart’s friends, Emma, has gone to Tanzania
for three months to teach in two orphanages. Last week, she left us a comment on our blog telling us exactly where she is in Tanzania and about her classroom - which is outside under a big tree. We looked on Google images and found a map which showed us Mwanza
- the nearest town and where Emma can use an internet cafe. We hope Emma will send us some pictures of her children that we can share on the blog and also tell us a bit more about life in Tanzania. We also found out that a daladala is a minibus. Dillon
Christmas Cactus drawings
We have finished our drawings of the Christmas Cactus plants.

We used soft pencils then felt tip pens and hope you enjoy our slideshow. Leah
Show and Tell
For my show and tell I brought a car.
It’s a good one because I can play with it outside and inside. It’s got new wheels on it and a hot wheel button. I got it from Lidl’s and my poppa bought it for me. Jonathan
Country Dancing
At our country dancing this morning we had a different piece of music for our Grand March and it lasted till we were in our lines of eight. We danced the Flying Scotsman twice through and everyone was puffed out. I was the only one in my group that wasn’t tired. Then we did the Prince of Orange. I like country dancing because it’s fun and my mum says that when I’m older I could be a dancer. Courtney The Prince of Orange [1] sorry clip [2] was too long! is
