Sports, Singing Podcast and Ancient Egypt
Sports Club
On Tuesday we had a gym time with Tony.
He came to tell us about a new sports club that is going to be starting in Prestonpans. We played some games with him and found out that at the club we will be learning skills that will help us in lots of sports. Today we were looking at practising sidestepping and why it is an important skill in lots of sports. I liked the tunnel tig and would quite like to go to the sports club but am not sure if I will be able. Rachel
Choir Taster
On Wednesday, all the primary three children had a choir taster session.
Mrs Stewart thought she would try and do a podcast of our class. I did the speaking bit. Emma choir taster podcast
Ancient Egyptian Style Pictures
This week we had to try and finish our pictures. I did a picture of a pharaoh. I used felt tip pens and lots of colours in blocks. Some people used coloured pencils.

I really liked doing my picture and had time to try another one, this time of an Egyptian vase of flowers. Our pictures have been put up on the walls outside our classroom so that everyone can see them. Courtney
Ancient Egyptian Houses
This week we were learning about Ancient Egyptian houses. The houses had to be built on high ground so they didn’t get washed away when the Nile flooded each year. The Egyptians used bricks made from mud out of the river, mixed with straw and sometimes pebbles, then baked in the sun.
The windows were very small to keep out the heat and so the houses were dark inside. People did their cooking up on the roof where it was a little cooler and they were less likely to set the house on fire. Coll
Interesting Egyptian Facts of the Week
Coll found out that Ancient Egyptians had special rules on how you could draw people.
I discovered that some Ancient Egyptians had a pool in their garden for fish to eat. We also found out when we were reading a story that the cloth needed to make a mummy would be enough to cover a football pitch. Sarah G
Show and Tell
I brought my football strip for show and tell. I play for Preston football team.
We have to train on Wednesdays and then the team is picked for the weekend. One of our coaches, Neil, arranged for us to all have a dip in a hot tub, just like real footballers. It was good fun and there were six hot tubs. So far this season we have not won any games but I scored a goal in one match. Charlie
I brought my special pencil case in for show and tell. I got it from Ikea and my dad bought it for me. I also got four new penguin rubbers when I was at the zoo. I also got a crayon pen from East Links Family Park. Courtney
Interactive Whiteboard update
On Thursday we got our interactive whiteboard fitted on to the wall BUT we still do not have our projector. We decided to e-mail Mrs Gardyne and ask when it would be coming. We had a reply after playtime saying that the projector would be fitted on 2nd October which is seven more school days. Mrs Stewart is going to make us another countdown chart. Mrs Gardyne says we are good at finding her no matter where she is!!! Liam
