Prestonpans Infant and Nursery School

On Saturday at the car boot sale, the Eco-defenders had a stall selling our fair trade organic cotton bags for life.  Mrs Gardyne had ordered 150 bags and at the end of the morning they were all sold.      I was at the boot sale with my mum and dad and my brother.  My mum bought three of the bags, my brother got two pens made from re-cycled car parts and I got a sticker about recycling to stick on my window and a pencil made from re-cycled cd cases.  I had good fun and saw some of my classmates there.  I will put how much we raised in class news next week.  Mrs Gardyne is going to order some more bags.  Craig

We all had to make a paper boat for the Three Harbours Arts Festival which took place this week in Prestonpans, Port Seton and Cockenzie.   Miss Carr showed us how to make paper boats.  We had decorated our paper first so our boats were colourful.         All the boats were collected and taken to Morrison’s Haven, which used to be an old harbour.  They were laid out in fish shapes on the grass.  Last Friday at 10.30 pm the grass was blasted with blue light to make it look like water.         Our teacher took some pictures but the blue light made everything look funny.  She went back one morning         and took some more pictures so we could see what it had looked like.  Chanelle 

On Tuesday it was our turn to go to the library to change our books.   While we were there we also got to visit an exhibition which was part of the Three Harbours Arts Festival.  We saw Irene spinning wool with a real spinning wheel.          We got to hold some of the wool before it was spun.  We also saw some awesome felt pictures        that were on display.  My favourite was the highland cow.  Isla told us it was copied from a real cow called Agnes and some of her hair had been used in the picture.         I am going to take my mum to see Agnes the highland cow before the exhibition ends.  Shawnisay

On Wednesday it was sports day.  This was my first sports day at Prestonpans.  We had to put on our gym clothes and then everyone was put into a team.  There was one person from each class in every team.  Then we went out to the field.

 There were hundreds of mums and dads there.   There were two lots of eleven activities and we had to go round them all.  Mrs Gardyne rang a bell when it was time to move on.   We scored points for our team at each activity and also for good behaviour.   We had lots of helpers from the primary school and from Preston Lodge.   The sun came out and everyone had a good time.   I had fun and my mum and my little brother came to watch me.  Faith

Thursday was the first day of Mrs Stewart’s Clearout Book Sale.      P 2’s came to buy.  Before we could put out the books we had to score out Mrs Stewart’s name on them.  Just before playtime we laid the books out on the desks ready to be sold.   I was the shopkeeper and Saffron and Faith put other books out in spaces.  We had a lot of children and sold more than sixty books but Mrs Stewart’s pile looks as big as ever.         Next week the P 3’s and the P 1’s are having their turn to buy books and on Wednesday anyone can come.  I liked being the shopkeeper and we made more than six pounds.  Emma

We also had our new interactive whiteboard installed this week.  We have been doing some mental maths with the rolling dice and this morning we watched a slideshow of the sports yesterday.  We also tried listening to music out of the speakers and our teacher turned  it up very loud!!!   It was funny!    I think I am going to like the new board but my teacher says she has a lot of homework to do finding out about it.  Saffron

I am going to play cricket with Charlie when it is my birthday.  Brandon

It is going to be my birthday in three days and I will be seven.  I will be the same age as my friend.  One of my teeth has come out and it is a bit sore.  Faith

I am going shopping to Edinburgh with my mum.  We are going for some food.  Chanelle

I am going on holiday in thirty-one days.  I am going to Brazil with my cousins, my mum, my dad, my brother, my auntie and my uncle.  We are going in a big plane and it takes about seven hours to get there.I am very excited because I have been looking in the holiday brochure for ages and I know what page I am going to.  John

I am going to Appleby Horse Fair on Saturday with my mum, my dad and my sister.  I go every year just to have a look.  I would like a horse but it wouldn’t get on with my dog, Chippy.  Shawnisay

I have a new cat.  Her name is Skye and and she is brown, white and black.  I don’t know how old she is but she sleeps in the upstairs hall.  Renee

A strange cat stole my cat’s food.  The food was in my back garden at the door.  It was a black and white cat.  I had to chase the other cat away.  Kelly

On Saturday I am going fishing with my dad and my brother.  We are going to Peebles - there is a big place there and we are staying the night.  My gran lives in Peebles and after the fishing we are going there for our tea.  Charlie

My football team has lots of new equipment for playing games.   We got it from Dobbies.  Dillon
