Books, birdboxes and beastie songs

For my Show and Tell I brought in my plasma globe.  coll-1.jpg   I got it for christmas from my dad.   You have to plug it in and then switch it on.  It has two speeds - low and high.  When you put your hair against it, it goes all spikey and if you put your hands on it it makes your hands hot   coll-2.jpg   and you can see purple lines in the globe.  Mrs Stewart thought it was really cool!  Coll

I brought in my big doll for Show and Tell.   I got it from my next door neighbour and her name is Lily.    saffron.jpg    I play with her every day and cuddle her at night.  Saffron

We made a book about the willow sculptures.    book.jpg   When the book was printed out some of us got to go to the other classes and the nursery to tell them about it.    nursery-3.jpg  nursery-2.jpg  nursery-1.jpg  We took the book and some children had left their sculptures in school so we could show them.  The other classes thought it was really good and Miss Carr wanted the pig for her back garden.  In the nursery the children were sitting at a table and I read the book to them.   I enjoyed going to the other classes.  Mrs Stewart is going to get some more willow from Anthea so we can have turns at Golden Time.  Ellie

At last the bird boxes we made at the Eco-Defenders were ready to go up.  We had to find some strong trees to put them on.  Mrs Gardyne and Mrs Barker were there to help us as they had to be put up high so that if a fox came to our field it wouldn’t be able to reach them.  Mrs Gardyne had to climb up a tree - without a ladder - to tie the boxes up with string.  Luckily there were some branches at the bottom of the trees that she could climb up on.

We put up the three boxes we had made all on different trees.  Mrs Gardyne did the first one and then we split into two groups to go and look for a strong tree to put our box up on.  I was with Mrs Barker and once we had picked a tree, she climbed up for us.  Mrs Stewart had let me have the class camera and I took all the pictures for the slideshow.  I tried really hard not to move the camera and took some pictures sideways.  Craig

On Thursday, our school choir was away singing in an Arts Festival in Edinburgh,  so when Mrs Gardyne asked if any classes would like to go and sing for the old people,   chas-1.jpg    our class said they go with P 2/4.  When we got to the church hall, there was lots of old people sitting at tables waiting for their afternoon tea.  First we sang some of our mini-beast songs.                  concert-3.jpg            Then we wandered amongst the tables showing the old people our project books and some of the photographs of Butterfly World.  The old people were really interested and one lady said I had very neat handwriting.    concert-5.jpg          concert-1.jpg        concert-2.jpg   Madge, the organiser, who was trying to raise money for CHAS,  thanked us and said how much everyone had enjoyed our visit.  Then she had cheesy biscuits and juice for us.   It was really good fun and lots of us would like to do it again.  Emma

On Friday the PTA had a dress down day.  If you paid £1 you could wear your own clothes to school instead of school uniform.   I wore my second favourite outfit which is pink cropped cord jeans with a matching top.  In our class nearly everyone dressed down.  Mrs Stewart forgot!!!  Shawnisay

Well done Craig you have taken some excellent photographs for the blog. Mrs Gardyne was very brave climbing that tree.
