Swinging Sixties Lunch - Monday 17 November

The History Club are having a sixties themed lunch in LZ Room 3 next Monday (17 November).  We will be listening to sixties music, eating sixties food, and finding out about some of the key events of this decade.  Everyone who has signed up to join the History Club is welcome to attend.  New members from S1 and S2 welcome.  See Miss Strachan for details.

Paris Trip 2009

Payment cards are now ready to hand out to pupils going on the Paris Trip in June 2009.  Could all pupils ensure that they collect their card from Mr Cruickshank by the end of this week (Friday 14 November).

Winter Leavers Fair

Leaving school in December?  Come along to the Winter Leavers Fair, Wednesday 19 November between 4-7 pm in the Careers Scotland Centre, Adam Ferguson House, Station Road, Musselburgh EH21 7PQ Tel 0131 665 3120.

This is your chance to meet with Careers Scotland Advisers, representatives from college and training providers to find out more about:

  • Employment, training and vocational opportunities
  • Going to college
  • CV’s, application forms and going for interviews
  • Volunteering
  • Other support available from Careers Scotland

Eat Well, Live Well - An exciting new school meals rewards scheme

Eat Well Live Well is a new and exciting rewards scheme for school meals starting on 10 November 2008 in Preston Lodge High School.  Earn points when you buy food and drinks in the school dining room using your National Entitlement Card or Smart Card and you will have the chance to win Love 2 Shop vouchers or top-up mobile phone vouchers to the value of £20 every month.  You will also have the chance to win a fantastic prize to the value of £100 at the end of the spring term in March 2009.  From 10 November make school meals your first choice every day.

Treasure Hunt @ QMU

Treasure Hunt at Queen Margaret University Learning Resource Centre, Tuesday 11th November 4pm to 7pm. It’s free. Everyone is welcome. For more information contact: 0131 474 0000 and ask for The Learning Resource Centre.

National Entitlement Cards

Next Monday 10 November (am only) and all day Tuesday 11 November -  S2; S4 and S5 pupils should report to the hall at the times listed below.  They will have their photographs taken and then return to class.  Please allow pupils out of class at these times.

Photographs of most pupils in S1; S3 and S6 are already on Phoenix and will used for NEC.  For those who don’t - photos will be taken on Tuesday during lunchtime.  Slips to notify these pupils will be put in the register bags.

Well done to everyone who took part in the Halloween Fancy Dress compeition on Friday - we raised a lot of money, and earned a lot of points!

The S4 Activate Group will be meeting in Learning Zone Room 6 every Monday period 3 and every Thursday period 2.  You should attend this instead of your normal timetabled class.

S3 Duke of Edinburgh meeting - Wednesday 5 November
