Week beginning April 21st 2008…

Spring

This week sees the Edinburgh Spring Holiday being marked with a day off school on Monday 21st 2008. The school will re-open on Tuesday 22nd April 2008.

We hope all of our pupils and their families have a restful weekend!

Once we get back to “auld claes an porridge” we will be working very hard in class completing a host of interesting tasks…

Maths

In maths the children will be undertaking numeracy work at the appropriate level in conjuction with their own individual maths plans. This week we will be concentrating on addition and subtraction.

Language

The children continue to work well on their individual reading and writing plans - please continue to support us with paired reading at home as we really see the benefits in class. Thanks!

Science

In Science this week the children will be planting their tomatoes, strawberries, peppers and flowers. It will be a very busy time! Last week we made a start by planting some sunflower seeds in our home made propagators (old 2L juice bottles!). Everyone is thoroughly enjoying being budding Alan Titchmarshes!

French

Update to follow…

 Social Studies

The pupils followed up their previous work on maps by creating their own colour coded maps of the UK. This included a key that signified Scotland as Blue, England as Yellow, Wales and Red and Northern Ireland as Green.

On our doorstep

We continue to rehearse our presentation of the Number 124 Bus! We have also added to our model of Prestonpans by building Meadowmill and Prestoungrange.

PE

In PE we have been running on the track outside. We were all able to take part in this activity to our own level and had great fun being out in the fresh air!
