PRESTON TOWER IN PRESTONPANS
The ELP Social Studies program is delivered by SfL teacher Zoe Monaco with input from Social Studies PT Marion Morris. The S1 Enhanced Learning Provision pupils work in a discreet group with Mrs Monaco and an auxiliary.
Materials have been prepared and differentiated by Ms Morris to tie in with the overall cross curricular theme of East Lothian. Areas covered in the autumn term include:
- what is history?
- how do we look for clues?
- being archeological detectives
- some big things from the past in Scottish history (Ice age onwards)
- my local history East Lothian
- my local history Prestonpans
- Battle of Prestonpans
- Visit to Preston Tower
- Everyday history in Prestonpans (salt production, coal mining, brewing, fishing etc)
