Under our Enhanced Learning Provision, Maths is taught as a Learning Zone based option. A small number of S1 and S2 pupils involved in our ELP program undertake their maths lessons in the care of SfL teachers Charli Russell, Jillian Binnie and John Samuel.
Lessons are taught in the Learning Zone and follow a program that links into the overall ELP umbrella theme of “The River Forth and East Lothian”.
Areas of study this autumn include :
Number line use
Addition
Ordinal numbers
Telling the time
Months of the year
Simple geometry
All of these topic areas are related (where we can) directly to the River Forth and our own local environment. Worksheets and resources are tailored to refer directly to our own lives and experiences in East Lothian. Excursions are similarly aimed at embracing our own local ways of life - for example, a trip on the Number 26 bus would involve us looking at the timetable and planning the times of our journey. It would also involve the use of money and counting skills.
Within these pages you will find examples of the work we have been undertaking in Maths. We hope you find them both interesting and informative.
