Learning together

At the start of the 2007 session, in addition to the regular learning support we facilitate, Preston Lodge High School commenced an Enhanced Learning Provision that saw a group of very special youngsters come together to learn in a way that is new, both to our school and the authority.

This blog is to be the platform we will use to share our experiences as we learn with them. We hope to post reports of our program progress - with all the ups and downs that will accompany it. There will be resources and ideas, reflections and reviews…but, mostly, there will be smiles.

(Or the odd report of a classroom rendition of the Cha Cha Slide).

    In classroom, cloakroom, playground, canteen
To pass by unnoticed is every child’s dream.
Fashion, music, friends, hair and food,
Define a rite of passage in every neighbourhood.
Wheelchair, highchair, crutches splint or stick
Define you, resign you to a look that’s more than quick.
Additional support needs is every persons right
An opportunity and challenge not won without a fight.
Integration, collaboration, social work and health,
The essential supporting networks, regardless of wealth.
A Curriculum for Excellence and Ambition is the cry,
Each child now of school age can set their standards high.
    Confident Individuals, Successful learners too
Creating Responsible Citizens, the hope is breaking through
Effective Contributors is what we aim to be,
Reflective practitioners must surely be the key.
I think its fair I speak for all, this challenge we will relish,
To bring on board our goals and aims is all we can wish
Combine our years of teaching we’ve seen much more than most
As professionals our goal must be, aim, don’t miss the post.
