Preston Lodge had been in good form without winning a game yet but scoring 7 goals. The team had a couple of new faces in the team with Frazer Ewart and Ben Stewart starting for the U-13s for the first time.
In usual fashion Preston Lodge started well and dominated possession in the first 5 minutes. This possession lead to a goal from Ben Stewart after good work from Johnny Edmond and Micheal Spence. This was an excellent start but yet again the boys became a little complacent and let Lasswade into the game with a slack goal. Micheal Spence tried to rally the troops in his usual fashion when we concede. Micheal thought he would lead by example and with some nice touches was able to get the strikers into attacking positions. A excellent pass from Micheal set-up Johnny Edmond to finish well and put Preston Lodge 2-1 ahead. Johnny had been a thorn in Lasswade defence from the start of the kick-off and with his new striking partner Ben Stewart also playing well Preston Lodge always had an attacking outlet.
Lasswade were continually a threat in the first half but a new defensive line of Craig McLeod, Daniel Laing, Grant Barber and Euan Cameron all in top form then they found it hard to get any sight of goal. Jake Grant, Craig Rugg and Jack Thomson supporting the defence and attack when needed meant the boys had a good shape to the side. The boys went into half time with a 4-1 lead after a penalty from Jack Thomson and a goal from Craig Rugg.
At half-time coach Mr Bennion was telling the team not to be complacent as in previous games against St Davids and Ross High this happened and we ended up losing the game.
The second half was still an exciting game despite Lasswade being 3-1 down at half-time they were continually a threat and would’ve scored apart from good defence especially by our new centre half partnership of Daniel Laing and Grant Barber.
The game finally finished 7-1 with great play in the second half with continual attacking from both sides.
