John came to our class recently to help us learn how to edit our photograhs for our photoaday project. His mum is a teacher in our school and she told us that he has been named as The Young Photographer of the Year because he came first in the Scottish Photography Press Awards competition (First Scotrail Press Photography Awards 2006).
Well done, John!!
I’ve been experimenting with our new wiki page. I wonder if I’ll be able to ’see’ everything in school tomorrow.
The ‘Phtoaday’ project is back on track.
We have a new wiki ……. check out our map (might take a wee while to load!). It looks a lot more professional on Tom’s wiki. I think I’ll have to request his help again.
We’ll use the wiki to share and discuss our photographs stored on our flickr site.
I just logged on to Barbara’s Blog and read some scary stuff about adding clocks to the new wiki …. any technical advice would be very much appreciated

Week 4 Challenge ….. and our Photography Lesson!
Posted by: carronshore, in Uncategorized
John came to visit today and he taught us how to edit our photographs on ‘photoshop elements’. We learned all sorts of new stuff - thank you, John! He’s even offered to come back in a couple of weeks to see how we’re getting on and has promised to give us some more tips. Check out our main blog for more info!
Mrs V NEVER, EVER likes photos taken (she wasn’t even aware of this one until now - and she almost likes it, so has allowed it to be shown) - well done, John!!
Please click on the link below to preview all our photographs so far! We’ve put them on our ‘old’ class blog. (if anyone knows how to use the ’slideshare’ plugin on exc-el …. please let us know how!)

The Chinese custom says that, If you are born in the year of the pig, it is very important that you wear a red belt (or alternative red item of clothing) every day during the year. Chinese people believe that this can keep evil away (it is very important for a person to wear red during their own lunar year). It is best if the red belt is given to you by your closest kin.
We are all going to be 12 this year, so we made each other a red belt to wear.
Chloe is not 12 until next year, so she took the photograph!
We’ve received a comment already on the Photo A Day flickr page!
For week 3, our challenge is to take pictures of red things around our school. This challenge was given by SSEDRO in honour of the Chinese New Year.
We thought this was a great idea because Mrs V had just read a post on Ewan’s blog about this. We got loads of ideas from the LTS site for our photographs this week!
We’ll put some of our photographs on here for you to see. Please help us choose the best ones for our Photoaday flickr challenge - it’s so hard to choose …. we’re only supposed to put on 5 each week!
We did it!! Thank you LG Shine !! The phone looks fanastic!! I’m sure that P7V will really enjoy reviewing it for you. Thank you too, to Tom Barrett for giving us the idea! ….. and thank you to Brian (son number 3) for the great photographs!
Primary 7V are on their mid-term break, but I know that they’ll love examining the new camera phone. It also records videos and is an mp3 player, too! It has so many other attributes, too. I’ll let the pupils play around with it on Tuesday when we return to school - I know they’ll be much more ‘clued in’ than I am about such things.
It will be great fun reviewing the phone. We’ll take some pictures for our photo a day project , we could try making a podcast …………. and if anyone reading this knows of someone famous that we could telephone, please let us know!!
Watch this space (and our wikispaces) for the ‘reviews’ of our new phone!
Here is our week 2 challenge for our photo a day project. Ruby Rennie gave us this one - it’s fun!
“OK - week 2 challenge is “pencils and pens”
Even in today’s world of computers and technology, we still use pencils and pens. Do you have any favourites? What kind of pencil do you like to write with? What does your hand look like when you are using a pencil? I’ve got some REALLY FAVOURITE pens that seem to give me much better ideas than an ordinary one!”
Here are the pictures we’ve taken so far. We’re allowed to take 2 each and we’ll choose the best ones for the photo a day pool.
If you click on them they get bigger and it takes you to our Carronshore Flickr page. the ‘Photo a Day’ flickr page is here
This is a recording of Tessie interviewing Nathan and Chelsea about the blog.
We went out on our Friday walk and took this picture for our ‘Photo a Day’ project. We take five pictures each day, then choose the best one for the project. Every Friday we post the 5 pictures. Our theme this week was ‘In Between Lessons’ You can view all our photos by visiting our flickr page. Just click HERE
