At the end of May ten pupils from P7, Lydia, Eilidh M, Morgan, Mhairi, Annabel, Andrew, Guy, Adam W, Lewis and Connor, played a hockey tournament at Whitburn. They played five games and one all of them. They came back with the schools second hockey cup and were all very proud of themselves!

Last Friday there was a local derby, with Pencaitland hosting our near neighbours Ormiston. Things were looking bleak when Ormiston took a 2-0 half time lead. However Pencaitland came roaring back to snatch victory in the second half. It was almost like watching Barcelona !!!

As you know P7 went to camp on the 26 April. We all had a wonderful time and loved all the activities. We made new friends, conquered our fears and shared lots of laughs.

Today P7 went cuckoo making chick egg cosys!

As part of our Guitar Hero project P7 have been designing guitars. We chose a shape or made up our own and then painted the pattern in water colour. Then we displayed them in our classroom. These are some examples:

P7 have started their Guitar Hero project. Although we think it’s amazing to be able to play the game in school, the project isn’t just about playing the game. Lots of schools in East Lothian are doing the project to help us transition into high school.

On Friday the 23rd of January, the whole school had a Scottish assembly. Every class did a song, a poem, drama or a scottish story.

On Monday the school football team made up of both P6 & P7 members took part in the Douglas Allan trophy competition at Meadowmill. Pencaitland were drawn in the same group as St Marys, Loretto and Dunbar. The team played very well in our first match and won comfortably. Perhaps a touch of over-confidence then [...]

On Friday 23rd of January it is Pencaitland Primary school’s Scots assembly. Each class is preparing a poem, song or a little play of some sort. It is sure to be an excellent assembly!  Make sure that if your child has any lines, learn them before friday.

On the 9th of December the whole school had a Christmas dinner which p7 served. The whole school really enjoyed it. Congratulations to Robbie Callender, P7. 
Robbie won the competition to design a Christmas card for Iain Gray, our local MSP.  Iain visited the school on Monday to present Robbie with a gift voucher and a very special Christmas card. 
We think the design is fantastic!     Well done Robbie!

P7 spent time on Remembrance day, remembering all the lost soldiers and writing Remembrance Day poetry. Once we had shared our ideas and listened to some famous poems we got to work writing our own.

On Monday we had our second rugby session, and we’re absolutely loving it! We get the chance to do lots of different activities that help us develop our rugby skills and also raise our fitness.

P7 have been selling poppies from Thursday to Tuesday for the Scottish Poppy Appeal
We decorated T-shirts and put up posters around the school about the poppy.
The stemmed poppies have all sold out but there are plenty of the sticky ones left.

P7 will be doing football, gymnastics and rugby up until Christmas.
Football:
McDonalds have sponsored a football programme for lots of primary 7’s in East Lothian. Each Thursday afternoon we get put through our paces on the football field. We have been doing things like; running through ladders, jumping over hurdles, speed tests and general football skills. [...]

On October the 9th P7 went on a class trip to The Museum of Flight. We got to try on WW2 clothes, we practised  having an air raid and we looked at prisoner of war postcards. Our favourite part of the morning was when we got to try on WW2 clothes, that was fun!
