Gardening
P2/3 have made a start in the school garden. We weeded, added compost and then planted potatoes, radishes and nasturtiums. We also planted seeds indoors which will be transplanted later. Alex brought a lavender plant which will hopefully help to keep the cats out of our border!

Road Safety

Windchimes
P2/3 made some fantastic windchimes. We brought some from home to get ideas, chose suitable materials, planned, took great care in the making process and displayed our results. We are very impressed.

The Art of Recycling!
P2/3 have been using recycling for our art sessions during our current topic of Materials and how they change.
We used twisted newspaper to make winter trees. We also used coloured plastic bags which we cut into strips and plaited to make bracelets and we used 3D junk boxes to make models. What do you think [...]

Party Fun

Don’t We Look Great!
Last Wednesday parents and friends were treated to a wonderful nativity play, ‘Born in a Barn’ performed by P1, P1/2 and P2/3 classes. The songs were incredibly catchy and the audiences were singing along. Well done to all the children who took part. Don’t we look great in our costumes?

Children in Need
Last week Primary 2/3 decided to raise money for Children in Need. We completed an obstacle course and were sponsored by family and friends. A Roman Feast
P2/3 celebrated the end of our Romans project with a Roman feast. We ate grapes, dates, raisins, oatcakes and honey, and drank fruit juice. After eating Roman style, we were entertained by members of the class. A great time was had by everyone!

Roman Mosaics
Primary 2/3 have been learning about the Romans in class. We looked at the mosaic floors in roman villas and produced our own designs. We hope you like them!

Making Maps
In P2/3 we have been working on our mapping skills. We went for a walk to the crossroads in Pencaitland looking out for landmarks. Raising money for the guide dogs for the blind
The infants were raising money for guide dogs for the blind. P2/3 organised a target game at 10p a go. Toby won a certificate for getting 3 beanbags in the puppy’s mouth. We raised almost £20.

St Andrew’s Day Assembly
P2/3 presented a St Andrew’s Day Assembly to Infant classes and parents. The children shared their knowledge of St Andrew and Scottish customs, and recited a verse of ‘To a Mouse’ by Robert Burns. Reach for the Stars!
The Royal Observatory planetarium visited P2/3 and P3 today. This is what the children thought of it:
