Pencils R Us

Yesterday, Pencils R Us, the P3/4 stationery shop opened ‘its doors’ for the penultimate time this session. We have all had a lot of fun, taking on responsibility for stock control, selling, counting the money and crowd control (a very important role at busy times!)
With the profits made, we recently rewarded ourselves with a [...]

Sharing Experiences

On Friday, P3/4 shared their Outdoor Journey experiences with the upper school. We also had a visit from a number of people from Edinburgh University who were interested in finding out what we had been up to.

A wee bit o’ Burns

This afternoon, P3/4 and P4 had their Burns Supper rehearsal which was performed to the whole school. We are very much looking forward to the evening performance tonight. We will keep you posted on our success and will let know how much we raise for charity.

Burns Supper Blether

Primaries 3/4 and P4 have been really busy organising our Burns Supper and have been fortunate enough to be able to hold a Glow Meet session with Millersneuk Primary in East Dunbartonshire. We were able to have a discussion about how we planned to run our Burns Supper and shared ideas. It was [...]

Congratulations

Congratulations to Robbie Callender, P7.
Robbie won the competition to design a Christmas card for Iain Gray, our local MSP.  Iain visited the school on Monday to present Robbie with a gift voucher and a very special Christmas card.
We think the design is fantastic!     Well done Robbie!

Thank You

The class reps are pleased to announce they raised £75 from their Kilts for Kids day.  This money has been donated to to Children First to support children in Scotland who are less fortunate than ourselves.

Don’t We Look Great!

Last Wednesday parents and friends were treated to a wonderful nativity play, ‘Born in a Barn’ performed by P1, P1/2 and P2/3 classes.  The songs were incredibly catchy and the audiences were singing along.  Well done to all the children who took part.  Don’t we look great in our costumes?

The Bedtime Story

Last night was quite magical at the school. The hall was decked with fairy lights and moon and star balloons, seven soft areas were covered with cosy cushions, and beakers of milk and yummy biscuits were prepared. Then our Nursery and Primary 1 children arrived in their jammies with a teddy and a grown-up! We [...]

Pencaitland Book Festival Week has begun!

The first day of our Book Festival was very successful. Five parents came in to read to pupils or to listen to them read, and they left some lovely comments about the event and how well our pupils can discuss the books they are reading. Thank you to all involved.
Today we start the Swapshop Bookshop [...]

Coffee, cakes and conkers

The nights are fairly drawing in! The changing colours of the trees and the arrival of conker season has given the children in the nursery lots to talk about. We’ve had great fun collecting leaves of different sizes and colours, sorting, matching and printing with them and the children have brought in enough acorns to [...]

ECO News

The new ECO reps have been busy carrying out an audit to identify this session’s focus.  After much discussion it was decided to concentrate on water.  The new reps are Eilidh, Lachlan, Rachel, Elis, James and Morgan.  Keeping the display up to date is a major part of their remit.  I think the waterfall is [...]

Primary 3 Enterprise

Over the last four weeks on a Monday afternoon, Primary 3 have been developing their skills to work as a team. The children have been encouraged to think about what choices they make as a team and to justify the decisions they have made. They have had to problem-solve, co-operate, and be very creative! The [...]

Fun, Laughter and Lots of Mud

On Thursday 10 April 2008, Primary 6 had an fun-packed Outdoor Education Day taken by Bill Stephen.   The weather was cold, and mostly dry but underfoot, muddy.
Sticky Feet
When Bill wants to round us all up, he calls out ‘Sticky Feet!’  We all have to run and form a circle and put our feet together, then [...]

Guide Dogs for the Blind

Last week the infants raised some money for the Guide Dogs for the Blind by having a fund raising week. In P1/2 we drew a great big dog and then we tried to cover the dog with coppers. We called the dog Copper, and by the end of the week he was completely full! Counting [...]

P5/6/7 Craft Club

It is now week two of Craft Club and this week we have been painting flower pots to sell at the Spring Fayre. It is fun but you need to be really careful not to smash them (unlike Miss Muir who managed to smash three before craft club started!)

Last week, we made dream catchers which [...]

Welcome to Pencaitland

Primary 5 have been practising taking pictures with the digital camera. We learnt how to upload pictures onto the laptop and then pasted them into a slideshow we created about our school.
